If you look at one of the photos I took standing near the Pacific/Davie intersection, you can see the other entrance (2 or 3 stairs leading up to it).

Also, with regards to a marker of some sort, what ever happened to the proposal of the Translink T?

I have a feeling it's delayed because TransLink is in the process of developing a system-wide signage system.

The station is nice, if a little generic.

There's an underground parking garage under Bill Curtis Square and the former parkade entrance structure was a large brick structure in a heritage warehouse style.

The Canada Line Station entrance is probably small because it sits atop the parkade and part of the parkade would have been expropriated to accommodate the access point. I don't think there was ever any plan to recreate the former brick structure for the station entrance.

Well...Wikipedia disagrees:

"Each station along the Canada Line is planned to be slightly different in appearance, and designed to blend in with the surrounding neighbourhood. Yaletown-Roundhouse Station, for instance, may be built in brick to match Yaletown's warehouse heritage."

I just meant that I never saw any renderings that showed a brick facade on the Yaletown Station.

The "blend in with the surrounding neighbourhood" is pretty standard "public meeting info-speak". They said the same thing about the Millennium Line stations too (but since they were built in industrial areas ...). I think that alot of local residents were appalled at the demolition of the former parkade entrance and I think that the reference to brick may have been meant to appease them - even if it was never implemented.

That sounds right.

The generic nature of the above ground stations also opens up the possibility of incorporating them into future buildings. I think that is the plan with Broadway, correct?

Not Broadway, I don't think. That roof will never be part of a second-storey floor. The Vancouver stations south of Broadway other than Marine Drive...that's a different story.

As far as I know the existing station will stand as is for the foreseeable future but there is a future entrance to go into the crossroads station. I posted the plans for it a while ago in one of the threads... far too lazy to dig it up now though.

As we all know, transit connections can bring great value to the destinations they serve. So when a transit connection means so much that someone plasters it all over town… well, let’s just say we’re pretty pleased. Langara, we’re glad you’re so excited about the new stop!

Also, in light of this campaign, somebody in our planning department also sent me a snapshot of a similar ad in Portland, Oregon.

The ad is for the Bridgeport Brew Pub on the Portland streetcar line, and I love how they’ve integrated the whole line into the story… yes, the final destination of “Beervana” is indeed the Brew Pub itself.

So, hats off to TriMet in Portland, too — job well done in providing great transit connections, everyone

The 700 block Granville has yet to be paved & is still surrounded by construction fencing. They are running short of time ot get the paving done ant he set up for the festivities done.
