The high pressure system to the west is apparently a weak one, because it only shows so at the lowest level weather charts I've seen (850 hpa, or hectopascals as a measure of air pressure) in Environment Canada, but not so at 700, 500, and 250 hPa.
Sorry if this is a little technical (and off-topic here too), but I'm as much a weather buff as a skyscraper one.
