I'd say that area of 'downtown' needs to really attract about 40-50 thousand new residents in the next 30 years.

Edmonton needs to get much more aggressive in terms of investment (public realm, new parks, cleanliness/maintenance/safety, amenities, affordable housing) and policy (intensification targets, effectively accommodating quality urban development) to attract this kind of growth.

Calgary needs the same kinds of numbers as well (Centre City plan has a target of 40,000 new residents)
Totally agree....

^ I do like the spandrels on Omega. They make the windows into a single vertical element, rather than just a bunch of separate openings. If they'd been used on some of the Icon's 27 forgotten elevations it would have looked a lot better, or at least more coherent.

concur... although why not just use real curtain wall, real spandrels, and a detail system that is far less complicated.

Sad we have no condos to that par yet.

Would look great on the Urbia lot or in the Quarters.

I lay 5% odds on the airport being fully closed. Edmonton, you are so screwed. My sincere condolences.

Nice, yes. Affordable ? I don't call $320k for the cheapest unit "affordable"

^ And there's your problem. We don't need affordable 'for the right people' if we're going to seriously densify the downtown.

I wouldn't complain if that building was built here but lets not pretend that buildings like that are going to make any serious difference in the quantity of people living in the core.
