I'd disagree, although our roads can be pock-marked with potholes in the winter/spring, I don't find it any different than other 'winter' cities such as Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, etc.

looks like newfangled made some new models in google earth. there are a bunch of the condos on saskatchewan drive now on there!

I was driving down fox drive just off the Whitemud and there is a pretty sick skyline shot there - the university construction in the foreground with the downtown cranes behind it, the whole skyline is pretty visible from there. If someone with a nice camera had the audacity to climb up that hill on the west side of the Whitemud, on the south bank of the river, I bet they could take a pretty original picture.

Went for a bike ride today with some friends, and had a ridiculous experience!

We were just entering Kinsmen Park, we rounded a bend, and saw a whole section of brush/grass on fire! The flames had just started, but we could see that it was spreading fast... somebody had just called the fire department, but several cyclists and joggers (including ourselves) were frantically running around trying to stomp out the hot-spots before they spread. That fluff coming off the poplar trees these days apparently is VERY flammable. The fire department soon arrived and soaked the whole area. It was exciting, but man oh man, we need rain soon!

...The things you just don't expect to be doing when you head out for a nice afternoon bike ride...

That stuff is like gas.

The Trail behind my house is a constant source of amusement for the little firebugs, The neighbors and I all have an extra 100 ' of hose for that reson.
