You have the same two bikes my brother has... A Kona Dawg (which he supposedly has had issues with), and an old hardtail GT (forget the model number exactly).

I just finished tuning up my Norco Bigfoot the other day, I'd be game for an SSP mountain biking adventure if anyone else is...

Any time buddy. I'm out there 4-5 days a week. In fact, I'll set up a SSP river valley bike tour/ photo taking session for some time next week if anyone wants to go. I take my other group out tuesdays & thursdays, but if some folks here want to hit the river valley next wednesday or friday (followed by beers at the Rose Bowl of course) let me know.

EDIT: Separate thread coming as to not derail the const. thread

there's not much chance you'll get me in one of your groups but there might be a chance for refreshment in riverdale rather than the rose bowl...

'the works' brochure has 2 interesting notes it in...

1. Icon will be receiving a mural (i am guessing for the south wall)

2. Immigration hall has a reno rendering... and it looks very nice. Cool glass addition to the south.

How about two 35-storey murals for the two sides of Icon II with no windows? I'm actually half-serious. I love the Alex Janvier piece on the Education building at UofA, and it would be an amazing way to give other local artists some lasting exposure.

I drove past the Lois Hole mural on 95 St a few days ago and it's a classy tribute. As well, on 112 Ave across from La Boheme the insurance agency has a nice relatively new mural. Let's fill those blank walls, Edmonton!

Kevin,
A report on redevelopment of City Centre Airport land pegs the value of the land could be from anywhere from $91 million-$230 million in current market conditions. That's a reduction of more than half from the $486 million that was originally forcast when the report was first put together last year.

====

Anywhere between $90,000,000 to $230,000,000 - hahah thats a HUGE spread!

It's still a lot of money, and as I read it, that figure was after certain costs were factored in (not sure which ones).

Of course the airport lands won't be sold tomorrow and we won't be in a recession forever. These estimates are definitely on the "conservative" side.

Would be a great place for NLRT to expand into Calder as well as NAIT expand.

I have no doubt that a multi-purpose recreation centre / sports fields would be part of a redevelopment programme for the CCA.

I think a major expansion of the Alberta Aviation Museum should happen if YXD shuts down. The runways may be no more, but there should be something meaningful to let people know about this much-storied airfield. Love it or loathe it, it's been an integral part of Edmonton's past.

Part of this thought comes from me visiting a few USAF Museums south of the border. So incredibly cool! Edmonton could have a marquee attraction to go with this new development if they really want it... I daresay that all three levels of Government (or two at the very least) could pitch in for something like this.

An expansion (or brand new building) for the Aviation Museum would be great.

I'd love to see the neighbourhood that's created when the airport is closed called Blatchford - a nice tip of the hat to the airfield.

My only reservation is where our IndyCar race will go. Wonder if Mr. Katz can round up some investors to build a permanent track somewhere, or help the folks at Castrol finish the road course they have planned.
