Land-use plan gets OK
EDMONTON JOURNALJUNE 12, 2009
Municipal Affairs Minister Ray Danyluk has given the Capital Region Board until Dec. 31 to fine-tune a regional land-use plan the group submitted to the province in March.
Otherwise, Danyluk accepted the document on Thursday.
"It's a good plan, a complete document, and a solid foundation to be built on," Danyluk told the mayors, reeves, and councillors who sit on the board.
Some areas that still need to be pinned down include:
-A cost-sharing model for the municipal share of an intermunicipal transit plan, and;
-Identifying priority growth areas.
The capital region board met more than 80 times in the past year to develop a co-ordinated regional plan for land use, housing, public transit, and a geographic information system.
