The only thing it will do is ensure that gov'ts properly take into account the impact of their megaprojects, and are upfront about the methods of construction.

The early London Underground lines were cut and cover, until they learned it was too disruptive. Maybe Gordo should have had his minions do some research.

Construction sure makes a good spooky scene for a good halloween festival! No wait, because then the residents would complain! Maybe we should blame Vancouver's NIMBY attitude for their failure and not the government...
Festivals and markets, quaint as they may be, are not going to lure people to a war zone of construction, especially when there are plenty of alternatives.

I think we have a "blame the government for everything, hands out please give me give me without myself trying to make the situation better" person on our hands.

And fesitvals would have helped, or anyhting, what i am seeing is they did nothing to help themselves and expected the governmennt to do it all for them And as i said before, if a business is good and not just a carbon copy of 50 other businesses then people will walk through a war zone to get there (like i said with the donair place in Maple Ridge). Also if you feel this way then maybe you should have done all your shopping there during the construction if you are so supportive of their cause.

And you have not answered my question, do you not think it is equal if they donate all the money they make above and beyond their pre-construction profits if given whatthey have lost during the construction. (for what i see here are people who want it both ways, gains with no pain.)

thats what i thought too - at minimum they should have served the people who can walk there and their needs instead of relying on a regional customer base - the ones that did that seemed to survive

that hazel store moved to main street and her store looks gross and the items she sells don't seem any more unique than any other store

So you're asking myself and others, who had no input into the construction of the Canada Line, to make a special trip and look for parking in a construction war zone to make up for Gordo's mistakes?

The answer: your question is ridiculous. Given how long construction was their profits better be higher than they were three years before. Why would you even think businesses in Cambie Village will see a increase in business due to the Canad Line when the nearest station are not very close.

There are too many people here enamoured of "mine is bigger than yours" mega-projects who have no clue what makes successful neighbourhoods and cities.

whatnext, do you have to be so negative all the time? Looking at your post history it looks like you're simply a second account of ravman.. you don't like Campbell and the BC Liberals. We get it.

Government does not, and should not have a responsibility to alleviate inconveniences caused by construction.. there was never a guarantee made by anyone that it would be a bored tunnel - that was just the plan at one point. Plans change.

Also if we did not have so many noise by-laws and other regulations they could have been working on the project 24/7 and it would havbe been completed much faster, but then people would not have liked that either.

I think what i really mean is that i am against this handout because it seems many of these business owners appeared to do nothing to help themselves, instead they went straight for the courts with open hands. Lets say if they had tried their hardest and did get together and organized civic events etc... but all these measures failed, then i would be a little more sympathetic to their cause, but i did not see that (Although i would still be against a handout as large as 600 000, i would maybe support a tax exemption for all their earnings during the construction period).

Sorry for the bad spelling, i can not find spell check on this computer (its Japanese).

Frequent and Reliable Service

Trains will leave every four minutes from Vancouver, and every seven minutes from Richmond and YVR. A one-way trip from Richmond-Brighouse to Waterfront Station will take only 25 minutes!
every four minutes???? seven minutes???

i am confused because the plan of skytrain canada line said the frequency of it will be every three minutes in vancovuer and every six minutes from richmond and yvr.

i hope it will be run as every two - half (2.5) minutes in vancovuer and every five minutes from richmond and yvr.

4 minutes could mean 3.5 minutes.

Skytrain runs every 108/108-216/324 seconds but they list 2/2-4/5-6 minutes even though technically it's supposed to be 1.8/1.8-3.6/5.4 minutes. They probably figure simple is better.

There were some serious test runs going on in Richmond yesterday. I was standing on No3 road and watch a train pass by every 2-3 minutes.

The exterior of the vehicles didn't look that bad after all.

The idiots at Translink don't know what they're talking about. 4 min, 7 minutes - try working out that schedule. Let's see (R=richmond, A=airport) - numbers are minutes past the hour:

hour 1:
R 00
R 04
A 07
R 08
R 12
A 14
R 16
R 20
A 21
R 24
R 28
A 28 CRASH
R 32
A 35
R 36
R 40
A 42
R 44
R 48
A 49
R 52
R 56
A 56 CRASH

Not to mention that 60 (minutes in a hour) is not divisible by 7) - so no clock-face timings for the airport. And, at Bridgeport, we get two spectacular crashes every hour

I think the initial service plan is to run each branch at 7min 20sec frequency, and the combined portion at 3min 40sec. So its indeed 7min/4min if you round it to nearest minutes.

There isn't a train running from Airport to Brighhouse right? Transfer is a must at Bridgeport Station?

I could hear the trains under Granville and Robson this afternoon. I didn't try timing it. Anyone know if the entire system is being tested yet?

I saw a train pass under the Arthur Laing today....i've talked about the Canada Line with quite a few of my friends and every time they see a test train or a station the first thing they say is how "small" it is.

As for frequencies, they probably just round it up.
