That's what it sounded like, and that is what I am a little worried about to be honest. I was a fan of the previous design. I think it incorporated the best of both restoration and new construction.

^I agree. It was tasteful, and still kept the original integrity, while adding some new stuff on to it. I wonder what the new design will look like for this thing.

Well, Garneau is the toughest neighbourhood to change anything in in the city it sounds like. Well organized and steadfast. I'm surprised anything gets built at all.

Perhaps in the 70s, etc. the University was expanding and many towers were being built on Garneau land so a lot of that 'character' was lost ... so now perhaps they're keen on making sure they preserve what ever they got today.


Either that or their crazy NIMBYs.
