If the city doesn't do anything about it the cromdale will probably be dealt with the same way drug houses or other boarded up properties are dealt with - arson.

As an occasional customer of other dive bars in the city I regret that i will never be able to order a drink in the Cromdale. By all accounts it sounded like a wicked place.

^ I can tour you around some equally divey bars on the strip if you're so inclined. But from what I heard, the bar at the Cromdale was a doozey.

That place may just have a date with a gasoline filled mayonaise jar and a rag yet.

I understand and agree with both sentiments, and I do think demolishing it will have an immediate perceptual and aesthetic benefit, but the crime, drugs, and prostitutes will simply go elsewhere, likely within the same area. My only complaint is that the Mayor and others seem to treat it like a panacea to solving the neighborhood's issues, when all it's really doing is scattering the issues elsewhere.

The Green Frog @ 94 & 118 is divey, but still has a neighborhood bar type feel. I haven't felt unsafe there at all.

The Ming Kee at 86 & 118 is probably the diviest. The owner of the bar rents rooms upstairs to hookers, you can buy crack right upstairs as well and the regulars sit at a picnic table & smoke crack right in the bar. There`s nothing nice or even remotely friendly about that place... the kind of bar where you don`t turn your back tot he door.

The Reno Pub at 95 st & 114 ave is pretty divey too, worse than Green frogs but still has a bit of a neighborly feel to it. The hookers like to hang out there when they`re not on the clock.

Mona Lisas at 118 & 96 is where all the natives hang out. Theres always fights and lots of homeless people drink there.

Ginty and I strolled into the Mona Lisa a few months ago. Didn't feel unsafe at all, but their certainly were some sketchy people. Infact, their party platter was really tasty.

While their some native hooker/crackwhore was standing around outside, and she spent a good ten minutes cleaning her face in the reflective glass. Not sure if she didn't know it was tinted glass or just didn't care, but we sure giggled.

^ I would give mona Lisas three knives out of ten. The clientelle is sketchy but for the most part they'll leave you alone.

The reno gets three knives as well. The regulars are freakin' hilarious. The Green Frog gets one knife out of ten... it could really be a dive bar anywhere in the city.

The Ming Kee I would give a solid eight knives out of ten. It's that sketchy. I've never been in the York, but given the choice between those two I think I'd rather go to the York. At least it's across the street from the cop shop.

I've been told by somebody else that the Windmill's more or less a dive there now these days.

I used to go to the Windmill when I was living in Millwoods back in the early 1990s. Even then, I've seen quite a few sketchy people there.

Millbourne does have its issues...
