You can see it from even sections of the Expo Line but only on very clear days before any smog has moved in.

The Canada Line vehicles do get some space for luggages...but what happens to the people that transfers to the Expo or M-Line? Are they upgrading any of the old SkyTrain cars or is there a possibility of getting a new fleet, Mark III perhaps??

jugo juice is adding tea & Coffee to its station locations - something the other stores it has don't have as well as more food items (apparently anyway)

The MKI and MKII cars still have wheelchair areas - those areas could be used. Bikes are allowed on at certain times, so there is space (except during rush hour). The majority of people taking transit with luggage will only have one or max. 2 bags.

Good question. I guess you could ask the same about the bus fleet. The new Mark2s might have a bit more floor space for luggage - less seats?

Thanks for those pics! The Vancouver stations are coming along. I wonder if anyone can snap a few pictures of the progress that's going underground (the design elements of the stations, so far?)

To be honest I'd rather not have too much open room. Maybe a little for the Canada line, but don't change the other designs.

I've caught trains from airports in Chicago, NYC, London, the cars there are identical to every other part of their systems and don't have a lot of baggage type space, but there's enough to survive. Lets face it, Grandma and Grandpa aren't going to be taking public transit to and from the airport anyway.

I predict that the only travelers who'll be using the Canada Line will be the younger types (under 25) who tend to travel with one wheelie luggage and one carry-on anyway as well as those coming from countries where transit is the norm rather than the exception such as Asian countries, UK, etc. I think the seating layout is fine as is. Luggage can go in the bicycle areas for YVR bound/originated trains and if demand warrants it they can add the same luggage racks that the 257 Horseshoe Bay Express buses have in the bicycle space specifically for the YVR trains. Perhaps retain space underneath the luggage rack so bicycles can still fit.

I actually have a question about the Canada Line to YVR that relates to this discussion:

Will I be able to check in (and more more importantly, check my luggage in) at an Air Canada or WestJet kiosk at Waterfront Station -- before I hop on the Canada Line to YVR?

One of the joys of travelling to Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific is just that -- checking suitcases in at the major transit hub (Central, I believe), before taking the direct train to the airport.

Waterfront Station already has a few airport check in kiosks just inside the Cordova St entrance, I don't know if it's for Air Canada or West Jet or both though.

More and more people are taking wheeled devices including baby carriages, wheelchairs, scooters, carts, luggage and bicycles on rapid transit. It makes a lot of sense to have open space to accommodate all these devices.

With an aging population, scooters are going to be more and more popular.

I'm pretty sure you can already check in at Waterfront.

I expect there will be check-in kiosks for ticketing, but not for luggage.

It's no different than the kiosks at YVR. You can check your luggage at the kiosk at Waterfront Station then when you get to YVR just go through the luggage attendant as usual.
