Well since this topic is being bantered about, I'll post a question to the insurance guru:

My old '82 Volvo is probably worth $500 to my insurance company, but I've got multiple thousands of dollars invsted in it and the car is worth significantly more than a typical '82 Volvo would be.

If my garage burns down, how do I collect the true value of the vehicle ? Is that even possible without some sort of special designation ?

Like I said, my realm doesn't include personal insurance - just commercial (i.e. I am not a personal insurance advisor - just deal with the commercial side every day)

^ A little personal experience though.. I know if you have it appraised by an antique/collector car - Yes you can insure to value.

I.E If I were to have, oh, lets say an 65 mustang, the metal itself is worth $500 to a wrecking company - but I've sunk $20,000 into the engine, the interior etc. - then yes, I can insure to what it is worth using an appraisal.

How long you guys figure until the Epcor tower goes above grade? Looks like it's creepin' up to grade right now. Can't wait to see this thing going up.

Those pictures are awesome!

I got the chance to go on a tour of the CCIS building today. First of all, I can't believe how fast it's going up. Glass is already going up on Bio-Sci connection, and glass and brick should be going up on the eastern portion of the main building sometime soon. Last time I walked by there, it was still a huge pit! The sheer size of the building is impressive - it's essentially four buildings in one, and there are lecture theatres extending under Quad as well.

My favourite part is the Bio-Sci section. There are lecture theatres that are radially built, which I think is pretty sweet. The arch roofs are really nice as well, but it looks like they'll be covered up for the most part. Definitely going to end up nicer than NREF though.

I'll give it a go with these pictures. I must appologize for the bad quality, they were taken mostly inside a car. But here they are.

I really love the look of this building...

World Trade Centre-Edmonton

My favorite building in the skyline, Manulife

Fairmont MacDonald

Another unique building in Edmonton: City hall

Can't wait to see this finished...AGA

Not a great picture, but I like this building

Lines get in the way, but nice shot of Icon

That's it...I hope you enjoyed these photos!
