Thanks Steven (and jmonkey); the architecture of those business buildings don't offend me, even though they come across as very 1950's and boring today. I'd imagine (well, I know, actually) that they would have to undergo extensive renovations inside to get them to be more useful for 21st Century business classes. Both FAMB and its neighbor to the north lack the infrastructure connections for more computers and computer labs than are already in them (not many), the classrooms are ill-heated/cooled, and they're less comfortable than modern rooms. And don't get me started on the bathrooms. Their evil twin, the education building (just to the east) has many of the same problems. If taking classes in those three buildings was my first impression of what the U of U has to offer, I'd head elsewhere to finish up my degree.
As it is, I got my Masters from the U last May, and did all of my undergrad work there too. So I guess it wasn't bad enough to keep me and my money away.
I'm glad they're putting these new buildings down in the same place as the old business buildings--it's a good site. But those buildings do need to be gutted or go. Might as well let them go.
