The few corporate people that use that airport should then pay for it. Let's see how long that would last there. Given the value of the land, figure out how much you need to charge those few people on a flight level for using that airport. Do some numbers, it doesn't work.

You would think the Journal would do some research on EXACTLY who is using the airport - these hot shots with 2 people on their private jets. I watched one last night arrive with 1 passenger. Lets see names and stats. FOIP should allow access to those air logs. Frankly I am not going to subsidize the rich or refrain from selling the airport. Government bureaucrats can drive or use commercial air service like all other public agencies. There has to be 20 flights a day between YYC and YEG and I fly those as needed for business. You don't see the Universities and Hospitals with private planes for their staff. Stelmach can use Josephburgh if need be.
That proposal was pretty nice and the tree's were a nice feature.
A update for the situation here in Mexico.Things in and around Cancun are pretty much the same as they were before with the exception of a stepped up presence of the policia, federales and the military. There was a attack recently near Cancun itself by one of the cartels against some goverment officals who were specifically targeted. The main problem seems to be near the border towns and not in the riviera maya or other resort area's.
Basically everyone is safe unless they are involved in the drug trade or are buying drugs. We have become friends with a local military officer and he explained this all to us.Believe me the Mexican goverment has had enough and is hitting the cartels and all people involved as hard as they can and the airforce is also about to become involved, sounds scary but the Riviera maya is just that the rivera maya...No worries here.
Tuffy thanks for the update and keeping in touch. It is great to see your posts and know you are doing well. Mexico is in the news - and everyone you talks to is concerned about the crime. Most know that if you go looking for trouble you will find it - and that the resort areas are OK. Likely it will be the worsening economic situation that will effect tourism to Mexico more than some bad press. Canadians have a love affair with Mexico and with the Mexican people and hopefully the economy here will strengthen so we can all enjoy those great beaches, cool cervezas, fab food and warm Mexican smiles!!
I can also tell you that it doesnt seem any diffirent now than it did when we first arrived the stepped presence in the area is to give a sense of safety.
Since we have been here we have had no problems with anyone, we stay away from the area's we were warned about such as ''centario'' in Playa del carmen, its just basically a very poor part of the city and robberies and assaults can and do happen there.Very much like 97st at 200am in Edmonton, dont go there and you are fine.
I thought I would give you all a update since the place has been getting a bad rap as of late due to the violence in the north. But as for this area life goes on with no obvious signs of trouble and no sense of it either.
