Additionally, once the signage is in place (Aqua Condo's, Aqua Rentals, CVS, restaurant, any additional retail unknown at this time, replacement hotel, ballroom entrance, public parking, etc.) it should help break up those vast expanses of stucco.
I still don't see what is wrong with the base. I know you all love to go crazy when you get to see slight warpings in a material just because it is the right time of day, but guess what, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FLAT BUILDING MATERIAL, they are all warped or slightly buckled. This is like complaining about Trump's glass, or the precast on the Clare, but guess what, you can be in the finest Mies building and the materials still don't line up perfectly and aren't perfectly flat. That is the nature of a facade, the nature of a building, they are not perfect things and that adds texture if anything.

"Hand-crafted cement plaster." (Or something like that is how they hyped it one of the articles.) I agree with Solar - it's about 1 mm away from EIFS if not easily qualified as such.

It's stucco.
The base isn't awful, but from the close-ups, it could have been better. They should have used a stone veneer. That would have tied things together better.
Really nice! I like how Trump kind of gets a lifetime honorary membership in the LSE group photo. Also I look forward to seeing this composition when he's in a bit deeper blue mood, yeah?
Btw, how much of a wide angle lens did you use?

Thanks. I mainly started posting shots that way to save on page length, and then it turned out adding extra depth to the content. If nothing else, it enables quick comparisons between different angles I guess.
I just walked over to Aqua today and looked at it for a while and I don't know what you guys find wrong with it. I think its very nice and the white panels despite the horrors of not being a perfect plane (those terrible masons and their human inability to create a horizontal and perfectly flat surface, oh the horror!), has a great texture to it.
Also, I never noticed it before, but the bottom edge of the Columbus face of the base gradually slopes upward towards that large overhang (which really nicely opens up what otherwise would be a very tight space between the base and the fire station next door) on the North side. You may have missed that feature and they are only adding the ceiling under the upsloping overhang just now. I actually am really starting to love this base.
Also, I don't know if anyone has noticed, but there are renders of the new grocery store on the Aqua fence, it is modern, not brick and pomo...
