Google maps doesn't even show Waterfront Dr. going right through between James and Galt.

Could it be YouCube? That's further north, up around Heaton. Don't know the value of that project exactly.

Sky seems to be well under construction at this point. Wouldn't it be a little late to get a permit?

Maybe it is Youcubes..

Random O/T comment:

I'm thinking that when I purchase a place, I'm going to get a house with a basement suite so I can milk it for all it's worth!

340 waterfront is sky condominium....there is a big sign out front.....they probably had a foundation permit and finally got the building permit.

saw this in the paper today...not exactly inspiring, but if its built to the sidewalk, it will be fine...nice to have a subway in the area....this is probably the westminster facade, which means a blank wall on sherbrook....i hope they throw a few windows in at least.

man, i wish they would have at least painted that dollarama....it is such a tragedy that a building like that got built on portage avenue...at least put the canopies back on...how can the owner actually think that it looks fine like that...there are cracks all over the stucco, now holes everywhere from the old sign....it would cost so little to make it presentable....refinish the stucco and three canvas canopies.

I guess they aren't putting any residential on top as someone on this board had posted awhile back...

Hopefully it ends up looking OK. That corner would be primetime for a coffee shop of some sort. Tim Hortons or Starbucks would do a stupid amount of business there.

The same year that Windows95 was released.

It was a Shoppers Drug Mart for a while, then the Red Apple since 2005, now a Dollarama...

It looks like the retailers the building is attracting is heading more downscale as time goes on.

i see it all the time when they are replacing one sign with another. at least pressure wash the old area. it looks brutal all the time. nobody takes pride in the upkeep of their buildings.

i know you can't really compare but whenever I've been to Tilburg, the Netherlands (a few times over the last few years), I'm always amazed at how clean the store fronts are. the owners/works are washing the windows weekely, sweeping outside their stores, etc.

I don't think I would consider it much of an improvement.

This is one of those cases where a parking lot could be considered an improvement.
