havent heard a thing regarding any plans in that area
I would love to see it, but doubt anything like that would happen any time soon.. Hopefully someone proves me wrong though as I would imagine it would do quite well, and would attract a nice crowd, improve the street scene and tie in other good tenants.

Question for those who may know - I was looking on edmonton.ca at the plans for Heritage Valley. They seem to indicate that once built out, the area will have a "town centre" area with street front retail, etc. Any word on if that is still planned? Or will it turn into another Windermere with parking lots and Walmarts surrounding such area?

The Town Centre is currently being planned. It will be developed with a mixture of medium / high density housing, mixed-uses, commercial / retail / office. There is a large district park that will accommodate a few schools and I believe a recreation centre.

Long story short....

We blew the motor on one of the skidoos on saturday across the lake from the cabin. As I was waiting in the frigid temperatures for my father to come back with a rope and sled to tow it a train drove by with "Chris Pronger is Pussy Whipped" spray painted over the entire length of a tanker car. That type of stuff never gets old.

that type of stuff is always old, inane and an abuse of the property of others, private or public - although i suppose it all depends to some degree on your outlook and your age and your ability to remain anonymous...

New development with 600+ units, essentially the 2nd main corner of the downtown, LRT, good density, amazing exposure.....

I hate to break it to you, but optimism and 'i think i can spirit' doesn't sell well on quarterly reports in 2009. The 'old standard' of "Edmontonians

malls" does.

And I agree. It takes a couple companies willing to take that 'risk' to break that barrier and begin to establish new, bankable, retail districts in the city.

EDMONTON - An information centre to help newcomers to Edmonton learn more about their chosen home officially opened Monday.

Located on the main floor of City Hall, the Citizen and New Arrival Information Centre was opened by Mayor Stephen Mandel and Employment and Alberta Immigration Minister Hector Goudreau. The centre expands on the services normally provided by the city’s Citizen Action Centre.

New arrivals can walk in to City Hall and speak with staff, who can answer specific questions to help residents get settled in the city as quickly as possible.

A couple of comments upon returning from van...

-density
-urban design
-material use
-water as art/sound dampening
-park space
-destination stores/restaurants

all good things, who'd have thought?
