Now they're even taking out seats.
People don't like starring at each other. I'm fine with this seating arrangement actually.

I would like to see that too...

I wouldn't think so but it is definitely possible.

Like most here, I too quite like the new colour scheme. It puts the old MKII's to shame. They're not that bad, but it would be great if the old MKII's could get repainted to match these new ones. I wonder what a MKI car would look like with this new scheme? I'm also happy about the new destination signs. I don't think the displays look that bad - I didn't even notice them until someone pointed them out so it's not like they stick out like a sore thumb at least.

Everything about these new trains put the Canada Line trains to shame....like really. It'll be great to compare both later this year.

The Canada Line trains are absolutely bare bone.

I think the Canada line trains will look good when they have the advertisements added to the sides (also i think they will look great when they get the c-cars added) I dont understand all this negative attitude towards them, they look no more bare than the current M2 cars and M1 cars. what do you want inside them? Flower holders and fuzzy dice hanging from the roof? Ugh, gets on my nerves. Most transit vehicles are no where near as extravagantly painted as these new M2 cars. Also do remember the C-line cars will be underground for more than half of their journey, unlike the skytrain cars.

The shiny bars inside really look quite cheap, most bars these days look have a dull look or are painted (e.g. yellow). The seats are also far from being vandal resistant, one could edge something onto them with a sharp object.

The ads would make it look even worse...

The colour scheme and design is exactly the same as the new buses and trolleys. Definitely helps to make the fleet look homogeneous and all in the same 'uniform'. Bravo translink, looks good!

One thing i've always wondered is why the Nova Buses have a different livery. The New Flyers are mainly black with the blue and yellow swooshes, and so are these new SkyTrain cars, but yet for some reason the Nova's went for light grey and the blue/yellow swooshes.

If they are going to change the livery, then please make an effort to actually change the entire fleet's livery. There are still some SkyTrain cars with the old red/blue livery, and then we have the Mark II livery from 1999, and now this charcoal design. Same goes with the numerous bus liverys.

I love the new colour scheme if a little 'trying to be modern and futuristic'. But hey, i love sci-fi colour schemes.

I can't wait to see them in service.

With these new cars, the C-line, the Expo renovations and the evergreen line we will actually have a good system, especially if the UBC and Surrey extensions happen along with downtown's street car and the interurban.
We'd have a pretty good transit system, considering in North America, we're usually more "car-oriented" (at least in our history), as opposed to...say...HK, or London, England (who has a deep, long, rich history of transit use). I'm looking forward to seeing Vancouver's transit system continue to grow and expand

The Mark II's don't look a whole lot different from the Mark I's (I'm assuming that's the white train to the right in the picture). I wish all of the trains were painted the same color, at least there would be some sort of continuity among all the lines.

I agree that the bars could have been a bit more of a "dull look" rather than the silver, shiny bars they have. I also think that if the Canada Line trains were painted the same way as these Mark II trains, wow, that'd be great, even if the trains were underground half the time, I still think it'd be neat to have all of the transit buses, trolleys, trains painted the same way. "uniformity" as one poster would put it.

I really don't understand why the Canada Line is branded separately from the rest of the transit network. Like really, it's the same system - just a different operator. So what if someone else is operating it.

Those C-Line trains should've had those Skytrain logo stickers tagged onto the front side of them, in addition to the C-Line logo damnit!!!

Not a new A-car connected to an old B-car, or vice versa - they would have different on-board software and systems.
Maybe an old married pair coupled to a new married pair, but I'm not sure if minor differences would pose problems (i.e. if there are different rates of acceleration, etc.).

Probably because at law, a trademark is used to represent the person providing goods or services. If Canada Line were to use the SkyTrain trademark (owned by BC Rapid Transit, I think) it would always have to say "under license from BC Rapid Transit".
If a trademark is used in manner that created confusion in the marketplace as to the origin of goods or services, the trademark can be expunged (voided). That's why companies that own trademarks that become generic in nature (Kleenex (instead of facial tissue), Xerox (instead of photocopy), Q-Tip (instead of cotton swab)) try to prevent unauthorized use of their marks.

The white one on the right is an older model MKII. The MKIs are the Expo 86 era boxy looking cars without the articulated joint.

The craziness of it all. Who knows. Maybe Translink and whoever owns the Canada Line will come to their senses, and work together. Or maybe Translink can buy the Canada Line.
