A few viewbook images that I've just scanned:
Interior of the Royal Alexandra Hotel (this is where Winnipeggers would go out to eat in the dark days before Hooters):
Main & Higgins, c. 1910, the Royal Alexandra and a streetcar named Happyland:
Parliament Building, not long for this world:
Sketches of the planned Bank of Commerce and Bank of Montreal buildings:
The New Post Office and the Manitoba Free Press building, Portage and Garry. Note passersby reading news bulletins posted on the FP building:
Manitoba College on Ellice Avenue:
More colleges; not sure what the dark building at (what is now) U. of M. in lower picture was:
Three churches; St. George's Anglican, First Baptist and Central Congregational (First Baptist's tower was preserved by the Calvary Temple when that church built its new building a few years ago; Central Congregational was a block south of First Baptist/Calvary Temple on the SW corner of Hargrave and Qu'Appelle; St. George's stood on the SW corner of Isabel and Bannatyne):
Three more churches (St. Andrew's Presbyterian, Elgin at Ellen; St. Stephen's Presbyterian, Portage at Spence (now Elim Chapel); the old Knox Presbyterian, Donald at Ellice where the Giant Tiger now is):
Two more (Broadway Methodist, Broadway at Kennedy; St. Mary's R.C. Cathedral, NW Hargrave at St. Mary):
Looking north from Broadway and Kennedy past the Law Courts. The photographer was probably standing on the tower of Broadway Church:
General Hospital:
The subway, a marvel that was possibly Winnipeg's most photographed and postcarded location:
Broadway, featuring the Manitoba Club before the east wing was added:
