I was leaving work downtown this evening and noticed that there was a crane above the Broadway Park Lofts taking down the crane. I didnt really get a good look at it. I wonder if they are taking the crane down, or repositioning it. Anyone want to check it out next time they are down doing a photo shoot?

Seems like everyone is trying to 'improve" buildings downtown lately lol. found it at a leasing companys site.

This is same design philosophy that has given so many gems like this downtown:

We seem to have a fixation with "updating" buildings we feel are ugly, only to realize in 20 years that we actually like the original building better. There are countless buildings downtown that have had their original facades "modernized", and they all look like crap now. In 2028, we'll be looking back at pictures of the current American Plaza building and wondering how good it would look if we removed the ugly facade that is about to be installed.

Seems to be a lot of negativity today though that seems to be a common theme lately. I don't think it looks too bad, though I don't always trust these computer simulations. If anything it's great to see some money being invested anywhere downtown at the moment.

This is probably what people were saying back in the 50's when they covered up the original facades. The current design is simple and timeless. Why do they feel the need to change it at all? I'm certain it will look messy and pieced together rather than the simple consistant building it is now.

I find it humorous that you would compare adding a design element to the base of a building that really equates to nothing more than a brick box to the destruction of historic facades that occured commonly in the 1950's and 1960's.

But thanks for proving my point about what seems to be a constant negative feeling on the forums lately. Lately, I have rarely posted because of it. It seems that nothing is ever good enough for a lot of the individuals posting these days. Perhaps I'm alone with these feelings but it seems rather obvious to me.

I don't think it's that there is more negativity so much as there are more shitty projects. That rendering looks atrocious. And you're right, it is only a little box of a building, so how can it be worth the money to remodel at all?

Me too, When I saw T-Mac's pic I thought Wow, that looks great! It's actually more historically correct also. T-Mac, does your pic flatter the color? I haven't seen the new paint job in person yet.

The pic is dead on what it looks like. I am just not a big fan of that color myself.
