Yes residents will still do what they want, but those living there that are interested in keeping it nice will do more their part to keep it nice if they know managment is doing the same.
I have found this to always be the case. Management is a huge contributer to keeping the building in good shape. Of course, a reponsible management team is usually the result of an equally responsible building owner.

You know... in looking at 2nd South and down main from the South Temple end of City Creek, it is so evident that the drop is very large in elevation. It is the one thing that SLC has that I cannot think of a parallel to.
Someone said it was an 80 foot drop to 5th South but I just cannot believe it.
Looking at the Walker Center down, the buildings all look stubby but when you look at the downtown picture taken in 06 looking north (Salt Lake Official Development page 303 center), everything looks formidable and tight. I know Photoshop was not used on that one. A nice shot that will look even nicer when the infill shows up.

Public Law 108-7 Division J Title IV Section 413 required GSA to move the historic building across the street and then be sold at auction. Sale date is to be determined based on project schedule

LOL, Fortunately I think the current mindset is very pro-downtown, especially around the TRAX and FrontRunner lines. Salt Lake City and Metro's main bright spot in this whole period of national economic turmoil is it's positioning on TOD's.
I have to agree, I don't like the design for that Whole Foods at all. Why can't developers and architects do a better job of attempting to at least emmulate the design of the surrounding structures? I don't want them to copy it exactly but possibly the same shape with some similar finish materials combined with more modern materials. Again

While I agree that I wouldn't want them to try and recreate the look of the original trolley barns, they could definitely create something that would complement them better than that.

yeah, that is absolutely terrible. I'm now just hoping that was and early rendering that will be replaced with something more complimentary to the existing structures.

I don't like the design at all. It wont have to wait five years to be dated it pretty much will look out of place and be an eyesore the day it’s created. It’s not a nice modern it’s a blan attempt at modern. Something, one maybe two stories that is modern and done well would look fine there so long as it incorporated some red brick. This isn't nice, it’s a glass wall with an uneven ugly bent piece of concrete or metal for a roof.
I like the sort of Byzantine or Dutch curved roofs they look wonderful too bad that they aren't been taken into consideration for this building.
