They haven't started marketing the units so its going to be a while.

It'll happen, this is a long term development

This one will be great once it gets built. I think it will add to LSE so much. I think the plans calles for it to be lighted with LED lighting that will change with the seasons. That will be awesome. Do they mean the entire building or just the top will be lit up?

If I recall, it's the skin that will have the LEDs, -- I've always thought that to be the whole building.

Might be pretty photogenic on some summer night during the 2016 olympics...

Thats awesome to hear...it will be a great change. Our skyline needs some color...we are far behind in that since compared to alot of other world class cities!

I love how this tower lines up perfectly with the segment of Lake Shore Drive throught Grant Park. People driving north on LSD will have an awesome view of this tower and the hole. I still think its a little too boxy, though. Kindof screams 80s kitch. But still pretty cool nonetheless. Is this slated to be the next LSE tower to go under construction after Aqua is completed?

Not yet, they haven't started marketing it yet. They're probably trying to push Aqua up to higher sales figures, as well as the other LSE buildings.

When Magellan does start marketing Arquitectonica, you can expect them to slap a shiny new name on it.

If this building isnt being marketed yet, what exactly is being sold at the Lakeshore East sales office? Are there that many available units in the other towers? What if a customer wants delivery of a new unit in 3-4 years, do they say come back later?

^ True, but unless you'd think they would like to have alternative high-rise, condo product on the market too.

I fear that Magellan thinks the timing is wrong to launch a building as big as this one. Hopefully if this is the case, they will move on to another site and work on a smaller building until the market improves, rather than downsizing the existing proposal.

There can't be that many small buildings left.

My wish would be for Magellan to return to the original Arqui proposal and market/build the two smaller flanking towers before returning to Arqui. Theres towers are smaller, offer permenant river and lake views, and frankly entirely complement the Arqui design...not to mention they're nice towers themselves.

^ There should be a smaller building site left next to Swissotel.

I agree that the original scheme was far superior.

The original three-tower scheme was so very sweet.

This article on Wikipedia currently indicates that 375 East Wacker Drive is expected to be 1,030 feet tall... I could edit that to the more likely expected height of 840 feet, but I kinda like seeing it as-is.

Within two months, the partners expect to start construction of a 140,000-square-foot retail building to include a Treasure Island supermarket.

Despite weaknesses in some downtown submarkets, Magellan has enough confidence in the central business district where Lakeshore East is located to start developing another residential-hotel building by October. The developer would prefer to site it at Lakeshore East."

With interest in keeping this thread up-to-date, the above passage seems to reference the Arquitectonica.

I was looking at the Lakeshore East site plan on the official website and I noticed this... a nice little motor court in front of Arqui, a far cry from the blunt and ugly Upper Wacker turnaround shown in the front-page rendering.
