Whatever offices were in the former Subway restaurant on Hamilton now seem to be gone. That didn't last long.

That building flooded a couple weeks ago. The main water line into the building burst, which just happens to run right under that space.

Not really construction related, but did anyone else see all of the chemically burnt trees and grass at the U of R? It happened a few weeks ago, rumour is that they used the wrong chemical when spraying for canker worms. Looks bloody awful.

Beats me, but it's been a couple weeks and the trees still look like they do in February. My rough estimate is that at least 50% or more of the trees on campus were damaged. The grass doesn't look quite so brown as it originally did, but that's because some weeds are sprouting.

The city has put two construction projects on hold due to lack of contractors. Anyone know if the pathway was just another bikepath?

Quote:
More than half a kilometre of pavement reconstruction in the city's north-west corner and the construction of a pathway from A.E. Wilson Park to 1st Avenue North on the West end will go back out to tender early next spring. The money allocated to complete those projects will roll over to next year's budget.

You can see some of the burnt grass in this pic.....too bad it happened but thankfully grass grows back.

So that mural on the parkade on Broadway Crossing seems to be taking shape. Anyone know what it's going to be? Looks like maybe a landscape shot of the Quappelle Valley? Definitely looks like a valley landscape shot so far anyways.

I have a very bad feeling about that mural. I think it's going to look absolutely horrible. Here's crossing my fingers.

It is still going ahead but I believe they have lots of work to do including determining the site and design. The feds have committed $10 million to the project. I assume they have to raise more as you can't build much in Regina anymore for $10 million.

Has the new STC terminal opened yet? Any pics?

I am interested, as I thought it was a nice design. it should add some more life to Broad Street.

I thought it was supposed to open this fall. I would think there will be a lot of fanfare when that opens and there hasn't been yet.

Question:
I was in Regina over the weekend nd noticed that along Broad St, there is a large cement wall half painted green attached to the new Tim hortons building (it looks like it is the parkade or something). Is this wall going to remain with that ugly paint job? It really is an eyesore.

That's the mural being talked about in the last page here. The currently unfinished mural is supposed to blend with live plantings in front of it. I think this is one we are going to have to wait for the finished product with plants to see how it looks.

I think Regina could really take some notes from Moose Jaw. Now that is a city that has taken advantage of murals (mostly with a historical theme) on blank walls to beautify the city.
