I don't doubt it.

Personally, I tend to avoid chains, but if it were to help draw people downtown than it would be a welcome addition. A good mixture of local businesses and chains would do plenty to rejuvinate the city centre.

Looking forward to it. Seems like it might offer something unique to the Regina cullinary scene serving appetizers and desserts.

I never had an opportunity to visit Gingerz when it was open. What's the layout like in there?

They are diggin up the tanks at the gas bar at the old Superstore today. Hopefully that project is set to go soon.

Sherwood Mall is to be renamed Rochdale Crossing.

The re-development plans look impressive. I think they are keeping the structure in tact. It appears they are removing the common area in the mall and creating separate entrances for all the stores. I've been told that Shoppers Drug Mart will be doubling the amount of their space in the mall.

Good to see something happening here.

Casa Latina on Broad Street is opening in about a week. They had their pre-opening event last week and I was told the food was excellent.

Heard a rumour that Harvard was close (or already has) to securing land immediately south of FCC tower on Hamilton Street (not sure how much). Makes sense as I've been told that FCC needs additional office space.

Thats funny cause I heard the exact same thing this morning. Not sure which business is already there but I assume its not the southern portion of the FCC building that already exists that was rumoured to be the place where an additional tower is to be built. I guess we'll have to wait and see, personally I am hoping for an 'original' design as the current FCC tower.

DowntownRiderFan mentioned on his/her weekend post that work was going on in the former boys shop location on Hamilton Street. I would suspect that Harvard would acquire to at least the former boys shop location or perhaps that location as well.

With the area with benches south of FCC Tower and the real estate up to (or maybe including) the former boys shop, Harvard would have enough for a second tower. Most towers have a floor plate of no less than 10,000 square feet per floor. The depth to the alley is 125' and I would guess there would be around 100'ish of frontage on Hamilton Street. That's enough real estate for a second tower.

They could then construct a pedway to Conexus Plaza and of course Conexus Plaza has its main floor leading to the parkade on Rose Street (one can travel through Conexus Plaza on the main level out the alley door and across into Harvards parkade)

All interesting possibilities.

The former Boys shop was sold in December I believe. For the past several months, interior renovations have been ongoing. I'd be both surprised and dissapointed if that was the selected location. Lets fill up the vacant holes before we start tearing more buildings down.

One story, single use building vs. a tower with new jobs downtown and an investment probably totaling no less than $30M. I would suggest we all want the jobs and investment.

As well, the tenant next door is the owner of the former Boys shop. Makes sense to be doing reno's if the building your currently leasing in has been sold.

Well I think it's obvious I'm not saying I'd rather keep single story buildings over a tower. What I was suggesting is that we have a massive amount of surface parking lots. I agree surface lots being developed would be the preference but I suppose from Harvard's perspective, if they can link all their assets (office towers and parkades) by pedway than that may be their goal.

I've heard some rumblings about Rose Street development plans but nothing concrete as of yet.

What's dissapointing is that I'm sure that any new tower won't be mix use with retail on the bottom. If it is part of the plans, then I'm all for it.

I wonder what that would mean for the women store though, Hall and Rae, is it? They'd most certainly be displaced in such a move.

Curious as to what you've heard about Rose Street? I too heard discussion, but that was at least a year ago.

Yep, I can basically confirm that.

I heard that back in December, but then nothing happened on the building until recently, so I was unsure. I'm fairly certain it will be designed strictly for takeout.
