It turns out the wind conditions weren't good enough to support the cost of the turbine.

Personally, I think they should have done a feasibility study BEFORE announcing the turbine. I think it was a vicious ploy to earn the platinum LEED rating.

I'm excited for the crown being clad finally. I like the way they're doing it too, starting at the back, flashing you a preview in Times Square, and then eventually meeting at the corner of 6th and 42nd making a big finish at the popular and visible Bryant Park face. The totally planned it....

I got a good view of it coming into LGA yesterday and it has a big impact on the city (as does the NYTT, which I was really impressed by).

I like the trio spire effect this, Conde Nast and NYTT have on the skyline. Must be impressive in person.

What an amazing addition to the skyline! Midtown REALLY looks great in this shot, especially the Avenue of the Americas! Although 1095 Avenue of the Americas really ruins it with its nasty shade of green, still would have looked better without the reclad.

I agree.
Green features are first to be dumped to keep the cost of construction down.

That brings me back to my point about the cladding. Just like with other towers, its
considered the roof height for me. That will become more clear once the tower is complete.

Its one of the FATTEST nyc skycrapers, maybe not extremely tall, but sure is pretty FAT. And I'm not really impressed with the facade, especially when compared to the gorgeous newly built times square skyscrapers nearby such as Times Square Tower and 5 Times Square.

Yeah, it ranks up there in weight with 55 Water Street and The GM Building. It is pretty tall though, even without the spire (especially for a 'fat building').
