Cops were out on foot, bikes and scooters and the women I saw a lot of them out that realy made the atmosphere pleasent for me.

How are you going to feel about abandoning your 200 homes listed on your profile?

I can't wait to see the day when downtown is busy without anything happening down there. And I think it will be sooner than later.

The cover story is on the Crescent Theater rennovation. It will have a movie theater for films that don't come to Mobile in the regular theater (aka most Oscar nominees, documentaries, etc). The other side will feature more of a small auditorium for music, spoken word, stuff like that. Also cool is the fact that they have a liquor license, so you can have drinks while your there for a show/movie. It will feature very high end condos above. I hope this works because that would be a very cool thing to have in Mobile, especially downtown.
mobile needs a major comedy club to come downtown where locals can showcase their talent as well as major comedians such as,katt willams, mike epps, john witherspoon, etc...something like zanies in nashville.

Yeah, I've been saying that we need a Comedy Club 4 the last 2 year. Every since I was living in Virgina Beach, they have a nice one called funny bones.

Spot of Tea had a comedy club in their upstairs space for a while - can't think what it was called, L'Estrade, I think. That's not going on any more, but they occasionally use the space for other performance stuff. I never went - ever since I was selected as the object of microphoned ridicule by some guy opening for a comic at a Houston club (I wasn't heckling him, but his mean-spirited humor had pasted an unpleasant look on my face) I've stayed away from such places.

Cool

I was just sitting around tonight, and I got to thinking...
Mobile has been growing very rapidly over the past couple of years. We now own the rights to the largest building in the state, are in the process of building a new $3.7 Billion steel plant and a $600 Million Air-Force refueling tanker facility, and have been proposed our city's own $1.5 Billion "Golden Gate Bridge"...

So why stop there?
Lets keep our momentum going and construct - The Burj Mobile

what do yall think?

It just needs a spire to match RSA and the Rennaissance, and it's good to go!

That's a rendering after 1st hurricane season.

For rendering of it after 2nd season...refer to original pic before photoshop.

My prediction - we will not see a building over 8 floors for at least 5 years; and that's OK. We will see crazy infill - every block within 1 mile of Bienville Square will be a solid 2-3 floors. This is the best thing that can happen to us - midrise density creates the residential and retail needed to sustain a city - and that is what we will get.

PS:
For all of those wanting to move downtown: I really enjoyed walking to art walk tonight. Looked at over 20 art galleries, bought some, drank some, walked to Guido's (1 block from my house), had a great dinner with friends and then had a drink-fest that can only happen in the city - hop on board.
