The Ritz-Carlton, or Figueroa at Wilshire?

^ JDR, you kill me. Fig at Wilshire is already built and in the original picture (it's the Sanwa Bank building with the lit green crown). How could it be "more east" in that picture?

I'm aware of that; it was built in 1990.

The've had that picture for months; I just wonder how many of the units with that angled perspective are still left.

What gets me is that its only as tall as the Gas Company tower. l mean, the space between floors looks as thin as paper.

angelenic going community blog

Hey all you SSP forumers:

After Rich and I hit a wall running angelenic on our own, we've decided to turn it into a community site for writers who are interested in becoming contributers.

Since many of you enjoy sharing news about downtown development, etc - we're offering you another platform that gets about 3,800 daily page views / 1,500 unique readers per day.

We'll be taking on a few interested people for now, and more later.

If you want to try your hand at blogging, here's how: http://www.angelenic.com/a-plan-to-ease-back-into-things/

Good to hear they are now going to focus on expanding the convention center. I hope for some good design. They should consider changing the facade of the older parts of the structure.

And can you imagine having that kind of view living in Park Fifth? I dare not even dream.

And add some high definition Billboards while they're at it!

Thanks again, colemonkee, for sparing me from having to explain the obvious.

If that was the case, why did you ask what you did? All of us were "speaking" specifically of the Ritz-Carlton.

Park Fifth Quietly Moves Forward

By Eric Richardson
Published: Wednesday, April 02, 2008, at 12:25PM

A model of the Park Fifth development stands in the project's Sales Center.

While quiet lately, the massive Park Fifth development slated to rise north of Pershing Square continues to make forward progress. The project submitted its Supplemental Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) to the Community Redevelopment Agency on March 31st.

A certified EIR would be a major milestone in the process of accumulating the approvals needed to commence construction. Two weeks previous the project also filed Vesting Tentative Tract and Zone Variance applications with the city's Planning Department.

The project Sales Center, located in the neighboring Gas Company Tower, is holding a reception Thursday evening and has extended an invite to Downtown readers.

The reception is Thursday, April 3rd, and runs from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. Enter the building via the corner of 5th and Olive. RSVP's are requested to Theresa Cushing, but I have a suspicion they won't be checking names at the door.

New Los Angeles blog.

Introducing Racked LA

Wednesday, April 2, 2008, by Dakota

Please welcome Racked LA, the newest member of the Curbed family. It's a blog about shopping, neighborhood stores and the retail scene of Los Angeles. Like all Curbed sites, Racked LA comes at its world from the street up, covering everything from the newest 3rd Street boutique to the latest downtown pet store. Current obsessions include Alexander McQueen’s Melrose Heights store, the fashions of “The Hills,” and the forthcoming Santa Monica mall.

Racked is edited by Tasha Adams, who comes to us via well-known neighborhood blog Blackburn & Sweetzer. Go ahead and say hello—or, better yet, send tips—to [email protected]. Meantime, enjoy.
