I love that last shot, mostly for the cabs in the shot. Looks like a mix of Tokyo andNYC. Gives off an impression of being exactly the kind of atmosphere we want in DTLA. Too bad its pretty muchl limited to that one intersection. keep the great angles coming, k3d

Thanks Echo Park. Technically Fig/12th and Fig/Olympic are equally crowded at that time. Most of them are walking to their cars though. I'm sure it won't be long before more business moves into the area to cater to these massive crowds.

k3d.. As usual you got some great shots and a great view. I'm going the way of threehundred to FL, but if I was in LA, I'd love to be looking out the windows where those pics were taken from. Good work!

Thanks RuFFy, Well hopefully like Threehundred you will still be posting here often. Luma is a great building for views of the current projects that's for sure.

Now that I'm home and have more time to examine the 2nd pic of LA Live k3d posted, I wonder how it'll look if and when LA Central is there. Subtract that parking lot and add LA Central and it looks to be a cool place to go. Not only that, it looks like a lot of people already go, imagine how much LA Central would add to LA Live.

Great pics k3d.

It sure looks exciting around Staples. And that's without the LA Live restaurants open. Add LA Central and that area has potential to explode.

Here's a ancient shot of Staples back in 2006 and the parking lot which will become LA Live. Looks awfully quiet. (chirp, chirp)

Google Earth has yet to upload more recent Satallite photos of the complex; as it is still a parking lot when in view.(But it might depend on which version you have, though.)

It would certainly add alot. Also, don't forget South Figueroa, as well as the Parking Lots north of L.A. Live.

I think what we need is MORE companies (any kinds) that would like to put up their billboards and advertisements on the buildings of the projects in South Park.

Look, I know how people here view the idea of copying other cities, but we are the "Entertainment Capital of the World"!!!! This kinda stuff really does belong in L.A.!!!:(i'm only using these as examples)

And no, thats not to say it doesn't belong anywhere else:

Video of LAEDC 2008 Economic Forecast from last week. Bill Witte and Tim Leiweke gave updates of Grand Ave and LA Live.

This is my view from my apt. If anybody has time and photoshop skills, I'd be interested to see how tall the Ritz-Carlton will rise from this pov.

That's a pretty sick view you have, there, GymRat.

At 54 stories it is one story taller than the Figueroa at Wilshire but the SkyscraperPage chart shows it being shorter. This is really a rough guess http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?c26

^It'll be much smaller than that, Its about the same height as the 444 Building/Citi Building, so It would be about the same height as the Ernst & Young Building in that picture.

^ I could be completely off base here, but won't it be slightly more to the east from this angle than it is as pictured above?

Not too much smaller but yes, your right. It's closer to the Citigroup Center at 190 m. The Figueroa at Wilshire is listed at 218 m and the Ritz-Carlton is listed at 199 m. It probably could be more to the east as well.

Thanks guys for the input. Since this pic was taken about 2 years ago, there weren't cranes up but now that they are, they rise on either side of the Wedbush? Bank building (that's the one just to the left of the 110 with the white lettering at the top) I agree that it will be around the Earnst&Young height since it's pretty far down Figueroa compared to the other buildings.

From that perspective it will rise just to the right or left of the Wedbush building. It would also look considerably smaller than the Citigroup building, due to it's proximity to the viewer and the focal length of the lens (wider lenses tend to shrink objects in the extreme background).
