I'd pay 5 bucks to see that view.
Darn right! The view from the top of the Hancock Tower in Chicago will set you back $14. Obs Decks can be big money makers in a city with substantial tourist traffic.

Region seeks to score TD

Officials jockey for Commerce HQ successor to stay local
Philadelphia Business Journal - April 7, 2008 by Jeff BlumenthalStaff Writer

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter has met with TD Bank Financial Group's top executives in an attempt to have the company relocate newly formed subsidiary TD Commerce Bank's headquarters to Center City.

"The mayor has had conversations with them, and he's excited at the prospect of having a new headquarters in Philadelphia," said Doug Oliver, the mayor's spokesman. "But TD Bank is engaging in a location search on the East Coast and Philadelphia is just one of those options."
I was just reading this article and noticed it mentions ACC specifically:

Directly quoting the aforementioned Philadelphia Business Journal Article:
"Sources said the city was floating the proposed American Commerce Center office tower at 18th and Arch streets as a possible headquarters site. 'The city is pitching the [ACC] as a location, but I'm not sure what else they can give them,' a source said. 'They can tell TD, 'We can put you right next to Comcast,' which is not insignificant. It would be a homerun for Nutter if he can pull it off.'"

There's plenty of Class A proposed commerical developments Philly can offer TD besides ACC such as BVT, Cira South and WTC on the Delaware.

I hope the new TD Commerce company still has some presence in Portland, what with TD Banknorth's HQ being here, but I would be willing to see it go if it was upgrading so a sweet tower such as the one proposed in Philadelphia.

True, but i believe the argument for ACC is simply its height, prestige, and location, right in the heart of Center City next to Comcast Center. If TD bank has a chance to occupy and become an anchor tenent in such a tall structure, that may be enough to sway the bank's leadership to relocate and occupy. Then again, we would have to know if those things matter or how important a role the "wow" factor of occupying an enormous signature skyscraper is to TD bank's leadership. I would also presume American Commerce Center would be re-named TD Commerce Center or something along those lines.

Hell, i dont care what they call it. if TD Commerce Bank can get this off the ground then more power to them.

financing....

financing i suppose would then definitely be no problem for this if TD was the main tenant....lol...It shouldn't have any problems as it stands now with that retirement fund behind it though...I suppose this would just be the ultimate toper for building this tower in these economic conditions....

Issue is, they would need dedicated elevator space and probably a whole slew of more complex and space-consuming stuff.

Not saying they could or should not do it, but it is just not an issue of having a floor open to the public.

Yeah, but none of those are on mass transit lines except Cira South and it could be full as we speak.

BVT is supposed to be condos IIRC.

Other good office locations (along transit)

It'd be interesting if the number 1 and 2 tenants in this tower turn out to be TD & Comcast.

I like it. Excellent job tower. Seems pretty proportional. You figure the spire is 525 feet higher than the top of Comcast Center. You even did an excellent job sticking the cube hotel portion with the trees on top in there.
Hope this vision becomes a reality.

Tower, that is a spectacular-looking rendering. Very nice job getting the shadows and depth of field correct. The photograph by Brad M. is also top notch. That thing will be visible from probably close to 50-60 miles away from some vantage points on clear days. incredible...

Wow...excellent mock up Tower! I hope Mayor Nutter is putting on a Jimmy Johnson style blitz on these companies so as to make building this tower very feasible.
