that would certainly reinforce the potent and authentic Parisian vibe L'Arche has already generated.

Anyone heard a date for when H&M is supposed to open? Wasn't the estimate March '08 at one point?

The store is still hollowed out on the inside.
I hope it opens in March.
I'll be looking for employment there.

There was a VERY brief blurb on channel 2 Saturday morning, but they seem to have totally buried the story. It sounded like someone inside the restaurant was just sitting there and was struck by a bullet, but please don't quote me (I had just got up and hadn't had my coffee, etc.) There was absolutely nothing in the paper all weekend.

There was another story about some diner at Table 1280 being shot too, but that seems to have been buried also.

Sheesh, what is it the 🞵🞵🞵🞵? How many morons are packing heat these days?

And why do they rush to hush these stories up? So that we can pretend everything is all hunky-dory?

I agree, Andrea - it seems to be getting out of hand now. Then we have these idiot Legislators that fear the NRA trying to pass bills to enable us to pack heat in bars, restaurants, etc.

I would love to know the details of these stories myself, but I do suspect they WERE hushed up immediately by various interests.........

Yet another reason not to go to Atlantic Station. Hand 🞵🞵🞵🞵 are completely out of control in this country. Not to turn this into a 🞵🞵🞵 control debate...but this is a prime example of why we need 🞵🞵🞵 control.

So midtowngt, you feel that this is a reason to stay away from AS vs any other destination in the Metro Area? I agree that this is unacceptable and unfortunate, but it is a public place. That said, this and the other shooting could have occurred literally anywhere. Remember the guy who entered CNN Center shooting a year or so ago? Does that mean people shouldn't go there? It's a sad day with this sort of 🞵🞵🞵 violence taking place in places where people are simply trying to have an enjoyable dining experience. However, I would not ever go so far as to say this is a reason not to go there. That's pretty ridiculous in my opinion.

That's insane. What kind of knot-head takes a 🞵🞵🞵 into a restaurant and opens fire when he gets into an argument?? That's exactly the kind of asinine behaviour that caused Buckhead Village to be shut down.

And bad reputations travel fast and are very hard to overcome. I've already heard several people say they are afraid to go to Atlantic Station because they heard it was dangerous. That's silly in my opinion, but perceptions do make a difference even when they're erroneous.

jeez.

I don't think comments (AS) like this make any sense...

There are soooo few shootings and violent altercations in the city proper, it should make most people's heads spin.

Having now lived, walked, dined, jogged, etc. in Midtown for the last three years with my wife, we giggle like little school girls when people make comments about perceived danger and violence in the city. I'm not saying Atlanta doesn't have problems, I'm just pointing out that compared to many other cities, it's an unusual day when you hear about a shooting in Midtown, Downtown, or Buckhead proper.

Noise Ordinances

Does anyone know what the noise ordinance in Atlanta is? I always thought 7 AM is the earliest construction can start, but the Atlantic construction crew starts every morning at 6 AM. Just curious cause City of Atlanta and APD say that they can build whenever they want, which just doesn't seem accurate.

jnihiser, I agree with your comment. I've dealt with car thefts and house thefts in Atlanta, but never experienced a personal confrontation, mugging, etc.

Look in City of Atlanta Code of Ordinances (Chapter 74, Article IV. Noise Control):

http://www.municode.com/resources/gateway.asp?pid=10376&sid=10

They may have a permit for a temporary variance.
