I actually really like this tower...you would have to see the area in order to appreciate it. The building directly accross the street has the same brick face, so this will really tie into the area really nice. I like how they have combining historic New West and modern design into this tower...with that said, I think its great..I have a picture of the site that I will post soon so everyone can see where its going to sit.

I like it too. Downtown New West has so much potential -- and it's projects like these, combining the city's heritage with new development, that will help it realize that potential.

LOL i'm no staker XP. HAHA I was guessing from the reflection of the window. But since it was taken the day, and I rode the SkyTrain M-Line to Brentwood today, and the sky looked really similar when I looked at the construction. We might've been on the same train.

I think it is the other way around. This is the render off of the Citi and Motif website:




From the render the office tower is on the west side of the site while the residential tower is on the northeast corner.

yup that is it.......I was in the area last night and ya its all fenced off and site prep seems to have started.

So if I understand it, there will be a second office building going up, unrelated to the Citi-Motif development, across the street to the north of the condo tower?

The sub-structure of the office building that is a part of the Citi-Motif project is nearly at grade and the foundation/parking garage work seems to be starting for the condo tower part of the project.

yes it is about 9 or 10 floors if I remember correct........pics were posted over a year ago on here somewhere...........

That may be right - so the office site is on the south side of Halifax (no alley on that block, right?)

Sidewalk Improvement plan continues

Pedestrians will be pounding new and improved pavement across Burnaby since the sidewalk improvement plan is slated to continue for another year.

The proposed 2008 local area service program, approved by council Monday night, will focus on upgrading older commercial and industrial areas of Burnaby that lack sufficient sidewalks.

The four selected areas will add 875 metres of standard concrete sidewalks to the city. The east side of Production Way will see improvements from Commerce Court to the urban trail at Eastlake Drive, extending into the Forest Grove neighbourhood. An interim walk will also be constructed on the south side of Commerce Court.

Improvements will be made near Gilmore Station on the south side of Manor Street beginning at Sumner Avenue, where pedestrian and vehicle traffic is expected to rise due to the draw of the casino. The west side of Sumner Avenue will get a new sidewalk between Manor Street and Canada Way.

The estimated cost of the 2008 program is $95,000, which exceeds the annual $40,000 budget. Reserve funds will be used to cover the excess expense.
