700 people a year aren't going to destroy our economy, our society or anything.

It doesn't stop them from making the claims and reaping the benefits. They may not be accepted but they remain here while they await their decision for years. Labour shortage or not, the amount of tax pay money associated with seeing the process through far outweighs and economic benefit they may provide. The fact we even accept refugees from mexico is another matter but they know once they land in canada and utter those words they will remain here on tax payer dime for at least 3 years.

you're totally discounting the fact that this is a FLIGHT from Mexico to Canada. I doubt a lowly migrant worker in Mexico will be able to afford to fly here, and if they can, I applaud them for the effort to save the money to do so.

This is completely different than Mexican migrants going into the United States, where they could easily enter by land at minimal financial cost.

Wow someone must really think Mexicana is a lowly mexican bus heading to Alberta.

The carrier flies to YYZ,YUL and YVR already and I dont see the headlines saying ''Mexican's invading the CN tower''.

Mexicana started off service to YVR with 3 weekly flights and now operates 11 weekly flights to YVR.(By popular demand)

These flights will be very popular with Mexican tourists heading to Alberta and Alberta tourists heading to resorts across Mexico.

Mexicana is a carrier with a pretty darn good reputation and better safety record than several Canadian carriers.

Firstly, don't take too many comments to heart as this is a skyscraper forum and I'm going to say that many here simply have no idea.

It's a great flight and another international destination to chalk up for YEG.

Growth is one of those things that can change overnight, New announcements can do that.

Cargo for example has been given very low growth projections, but with Port Alberta now preparing to take center stage cargo volumes will have to be re-adjusted in a big way.

Throw a 747F in the mix say 3 or 4 times a week plus a MD-11F also 3 or 4 times a week and add the feeder freighters from the U.S (A300F's,A310F's,727F's) you have some big numbers in a short time.Along with the Exsisiting cargo only operators things change fast.

Same goes with PAX flights, new routes=well you get the idea...
