Well isn't that a fucking letdown, especially after comments like ''over there'' implying different time zone.

Like fuck man

I don't see the Mexicana announcement as a letdown at all. Jeez-us, some of you here have to be patient! I have a strong feeling that there WILL be more great announcements for YEG in the near future!

I don't think people see it as a bad thing, but some people really made this sound like it was going to be an earth shattering announcement. Once again it was something we all saw coming withing 12-24mths.

Interesting when you go on the Mexicana website and book a flight for any date in June and punch in YYC to MEX (Mexico City). It shows all flights having one stop enroute - that being Dallas. Is this the case - that the MEX flight from YYC is not non-stop and is a direct flight from YYC to DFW and then onto MEX? Will the YEG flight be the same??

I congratulate everyone for their efforts to keep a lively discussion going on the important topic of the city's air services.

I hate to be a party pooper, but I am afraid that the recent tone on this thread has been preventing me from posting comments as much as I would like. I wish folks would be more careful about expressing their strong opinions and frustrations, especially when accompanied by rough language. I suspect I am not the only member who has been shying away from here because of the unpleasant atmosphere.

'Nuff said.

Welcome to SSP!

Hey, there's nothing to worry about here. We're all pretty good people here. Most of us, including me, have the common sense not to use foul language excessively here. This forum is nothing compared to some others I've been to when it comes to unpleasant stuff.

If you're from Edmonton, you should check out C2E (www.connect2Eedmonton.ca). After all, the forum in C2E is moderated and foul/rough language is strictly forbidden there.

I've been in negotiation sessions all day, and this is the first time I've been able to log on. OK, I'm with mode. Settle down already. Expressing disappointment at this flight? Are you kidding me???

There are multiple streams going on. Even I was unaware of Mexicana until a couple days ago, so it shows you what irons the EAA has in the fire. This is but one of a few negotiations, and this one just came to fruition first.

I did expect a second announcement today, don't know if it has happened yet as I am knee deep in alligators working on my own deliverables. Nah, I'm just a lowly program director so obviously I'm "hiding" from this announcement and from tuffyy. I couldn't have a real job, and today just couldn't be a busy day. Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

What I have been hinting at is not Mexicana. I am also a bit personally vested in this other announcement as it could aligns to my core business expertise, which is not refried beans (I hate that stuff). I could also parlay this into a stronger career direction, so I am probably more anxious to hear this get announced than 99.9999999999999% of the lurkers here. Those on here who know me know what I do for a living, and know that it is how I came by this other activity going on. And you know why I can't say a darn thing at all.

Mexicana, however wonderful, is the first step of many this year, and of many major announcements.

So, to those laughing, enjoy. There is more. Remember, he who laughs last, laughs best.

Wow just wow...

If any can read you would understand this is not the end of the announcements....

Jesus, people.

Mexicana is great and I am sorry you dont see it that way.

Not any of the real big developments yet have been announced and perhaps if people paid attention they would see that.

Good'day.

I like your thinking.

Mode, I don't see the problem with people expressing their strong opinions and frustrations. It's a free country(and or internet aka series of tubes) and they are simply expressing themselves. I'd hate to stifle that, if they use some bad language perhaps it is the only way they can express their feelings(I'm a guy and thus don't have any feeling though, too manly for that nonsense).

I can understand why some were quick to jump on the "WTF it's only Mexicana? OMGWTFBBQ!" without thinking about the fact that there are bound to be more announcements. Just gut reactions and nothing else, kind of like how the majority of us Calgary forumers "shat our pants" when the Encana renders came out.

It happens to the best(and worst) of us. So don't worry about it and jump on into the discussion!

Don't go stealing my guess of Jade Cargo*, you have to pick your own Asian cargo carrier!

*I didn't even know Jade Cargo existed until I read it in this thread. However I'm still claiming it as my own guess. Booya!

I actually like it that people on this forum aren't afraid to express their feelings. Makes it much more lively. We're all adults here and can take everything with a grain of salt. We're passionate about our city and if something upsets us, we're gonna let it be known.

I thought most Calgarians liked "The Bow"?

That is what I meant, most of us were of the reaction "Mind blown. Pants shat!"

LH announcing the service to FRA from YYC didn't get quite that reaction from me, but I was pumped to see them in YYC!
