Money is obviously no object when it comes to Yorkville Real Esate. Look at that building, it's a perfectly fine 4 Star hotel...in perfect condition and it's coming down to make way for a 58 or 61 storey skyscraper and a twin at 48 storeys

Too bad its getting torn down. Clearly its ugly by today's standards, but you have to wonder if 100 years from now people won't be lamenting our shortsightedness.

Their is no confirmation as to it being torn down at all. They may just be doing the demo to the convention centre. Plenty of room for two point towers on site. U of T could use it for res.

I think implosion is out-of-the-question as the site is just too tight to contain a debris pile from a 31 storey tower

The site is far too small for two more towers

Replacing 30 storeys with 106 storeys would be profitable in many parts of Toronto.

I give this a snowballs change of getting approved as there are some very powerful people that would like Yorkville to stay as is.

65 storey, 55 storey, and 31 storey office building planned across the street from the Maple Leaf Square development. It's the last parcel of land without a proposal in the former railway lands.

So the 65-storey tower will be going on the southeast corner of York & Bremner? And I take it the other two are the already announced ones on Bay and northwest York & Bremner, or are they completely new proposals?

Those Pinnacle towers (which are sort-of in the area) might not be much to look at, but they do a great job of meeting the street. If the density in the area builds up to a high enough level (with these and the other projects), we might just get a decent new retail area/neighbourhood in the city.

Damn, when I first saw the pdf image I thought it was one monster building not 3! Very nice. The residential towers look very thin. My only concern is the podium, one floor just doesn't cut it. I hope the city makes them change that part of the design. IMO most new buildings should provide a podium with at least one double high floor for retail and restaurants. It's funny, 2 years ago this intersection was nothing but parking lots on all four corners, now all four corners will be gone with 2 office towers on the northeast and northwest corners, 2residential towers and an entertainment/shopping complex on the southeast side. And now 2 residential towers and one office tower on the southwest side. From no density to high density in the blink of an eye, I like it.

Five 500 to 700 footers in a couple of days........ time to get the crayolas out again. Absolutely amazing.

Can't remember a more exciting time with all the u/c (most of which will really announce themselves vertically in the coming year), newly approved (55 and 45 storeys @ St.Joseph and Bay etc.) and a dozen or so proposed giants with more announcements to come.

It's good to be a skyscraper geek.........
