My understanding is yes, however IIRC, they've been selling Mercedes for the last year or two under another dealership.

The Mercedes dealership has been in the works for sometime, announcement of the Audi was speculated but now it's official.

Mercedes were being sold in Saskatoon by Elite Motor Cars Ltd. since the late 90's. Vaughn Wyant became the new Mercedes-Benz dealer in 2006.

Audi's were sold in Regina by Taylor Motors - not sure for how long now.

I have also noticed a few Audi's on our VW lot, not sure if they are new or "pre-owned" Of course I wouldn't want to use the word used for a luxury car.

Sounds to me like the article has no purpose other than to provide free advertsing for the dealer and remind us one more time that we are in a boom.

BTW, why is it that all newspapers carry auto and real estate sections which are nothing more than thinly veiled marketing, when they charge everyone else for advertising? Or do they charge dealers for these kinds of articles and home builders for those fluff articles they write about the "exciting new approach to suburban living in Stonehenge", which inevitably showcase a particular new house which coincidentaly is for sale? I'm not asking this rhetorically and am genuinly interested in why this happens. Does anyone know?

I'd say your suspicions are mostly right.

Although, I'd assume many businesses have established great working relationships with the Star Phoenix over the years and articles highlighting new products or investment (new dealership, home design) are just as much advertising for the business (advertising revenue for the SP), as it is local news for citizens (yearly subscription revenue for the SP).

Do businesses pay the Star Phoenix for positive review articles? Perhaps, I can definitely see an arrangement with the auto dealerships and home builders association.

Realistically, how else would the Star Phoenix pay the bills?

If a share-offering is successful, Roughrider fans might have a new mode of transportation to games in the Queen City.

The group looking at purchasing a piece of railway between Davidson and Regina from CN has issued a share offering to interested parties.

For now Rod Haugerud says they are hoping to raise a hundred and 20 thousand dollars to go ahead with a business plan.

If the actual deal does go through, CN has agreed to negotiate "running rights" on their line so that Saskatoon and Regina would be connected by the shortline and from there, Haugerud says there's all kinds of possibilities including a Rider Train.

Interesting, the business plan might provide some interesting insight into Saskatchewan's intercity transportation system.

Anxious to see what becomes of it.

Taking this post to another topic, the U of S arts tunnel had a few posters catch my eye because from a distance I saw the words "Saskatchewan" and "Diamonds" printed boldly. On closer inspection, it appears (IIRC) Shore Gold's George H. Read will present as a guest lecturer on Saskatchewan's diamond industry, I'm thinking about going.

I couldn't find information online anywhere, so here's some details via my memory.

New York Investor Buys Downtown Office Building

The downtown office building that has been home to the Jazz Society Bassment night club will be undergoing an extensive renovation which may force the club to find a new home.

New York investor Malcom Kaye has purchased the Glengarry Building on Third Avenue South and will spend more than 300-thousand dollars in the first phase of an extensive renovation to create more downtown office space. Doug Hall with ICR Commercial Real Estate says the face lift will include a new roof, a new boiler and air conditioning for the entire building, restoring the stairwell and returning the Glengarry to its original splendour.

Hall says architectural work is underway, and the renovation will take about three or four months once a contractor is found. He says the lack of office space and the booming city economy were the main reasons his client decided to purchase the building.

Saskftw: After looking at the pdf files depicting the route of the road connector and south bridge I am a little confused...the connector doesn't split (orphan) the golf property, what are they referring to?

The Golf & Country Club was leasing the land (which was most of the 12 hole and the 13th tee box on the members course) from the city. Remai has purchased this land and has leased it back to the golf course until 2009 when the renovations will be complete. The freeway will cut into the existing holes but doesn't effect the land that Remai purchased.

I was wondering the same thing.

The land is already orphaned with the rail tracks running through the course, perhaps they were referring to that

So what land does Remai own? I have never golfed there, nor can I find a map of the course. Where is the 12th hole?

^Yes, that's the land that Remai bought. It is located in the RM of Corman Park.

Posting pictures eh?

1. I use the imageshack toolbar for firefox or just visit http://imageshack.us/
2. click browse
3. find your photo (resize if necessary, I use 1024x768 for most photos)
4. click upload and wait for completion
5. find and copy direct link URL for the photo (near the bottom of the page)
6. Go back to SSP post reply and look for the insert image icon (looks like two mountain peaks), paste the URL link for the photo and click ok
7. Preview post, make necessary edits, add a source page URL if retrieving from another site
8. You have just posted an image on SSP

**Also, if your using a photo from the web instead of uploading from your computer, just copy the URL for the image and post it into the "insert image" URL text box. The photo should appear on you SSP post.
