A couple of observations made during a short trip to the south loop today...

-Marquee Michigan has always been ugly, but now that they've painted the whole thing it just makes me sick to my stomach.

-Library Tower appears to be turning out much better that I thought it would. I feared this one would be similar to the so-called "Vision" on State, but the brick looks great and the building fits in well with the others around it.

Failing. Sears is South. Aon is just south of the River. Hancock is North.

I notice that the majority of the newer projects seem to be a simular style. Kind of greenish/blue glassy with a residential touch. I guess that's these are all residentials that I'm talking about. Is anyone else getting tired of seeing this green/blue glass everywhere? They sure do look nice though. How many residential units are under-construction in downtown Chicago?

Who's responsible for this one? Can the AIA do something similar to the ABA disbarring a lawyer and take away their right to practice architecture?

Wow, quite the update Skokie! Even though I live down here, you have shown me many angles that I don't see every day!

What I really liked about these pictures is the textures of this city. Scroll through them again and notice the brilliant variety of textures and the juxtaposition of the old with the new. Even relatively low par buildings like Allure can add something to this texture. I can't say the same for POS Marquee Michigan... Simply vomit inducing...

This will be probably the last time I get a shot from here, as the view will soon be almost totally blocked...

Lots of towers can be seen taking shape in the skyline, despite the clouds.

In fairness, the architect was probably just doing what the developer told him to. Architects gotta eat too, you know.
