Trap doors on self raising form, closed until the rebar is installed and the stubs ( which will extend above the poured wall ) are installed.

Pouring the SE wall

note use of safety line - even when working in the basement.

Putting in raker beams on the SW corner

Working late

K Street Station (?)

Can't remember the name ( far left ) seems to fit in with the old engine house.

So they went to all the work of redesigns on 2020, then killed the project? I've been on a project like that, sucks.

I think there was an earlier rendering of 9 West Erie that just had it floating in the open. It looks better in that setting, as a bookend, really helps with the streetwall.
Is there not a lot of retail need in that area though? That's the only thing that looks a little bare.

That would make sense, but the mistake is actually in Emporis' fact. It should have been changed when we found out the foundation work was NOT for the east tower, only for the garage. I'll change the fact right now. Thanks for catching it.

There is a decent amount of retail in that area. It's a block north of two Italian restaurants, the shops in Tree Studios, Chili's, Red Head piano bar, Whole Foods, a Starbucks, Bijan's, and a bunch of other stuff.

Not every building needs retail in it, and who knows - maybe the final version will have some retail.

No, it's a surface parking lot currently.

If true that politics (Fioretti) had something to do with the investors bailing, this is sad proof positive that the business community - investors and developers - are getting the impression that the 2nd Ward is closed for business. Fioretti's badly misplaced agenda of slowing development and investment in the South Loop is showing initial signs of success...

MEDIC!

I thought the lawsuits were internal though, between developers.

I'm surprised nobody else caught this - there actually was a small b&w render of the new design at the top of the front page of the S-T business section the other day (not alongside Roeder's column). It's not a great design by any means, but it actually looked marginally improved to me over this initial design (granted it was a small render, and given my very low expectations for Antunovich designed (and especially Antunovich-designed, McCaffery-developed) projects, I'm doubting my own lack of nausea upon seeing it), but just thought I'd throw it out there..... Also, I think they dumped the silly roof...

It may be worth checking into 2100 (formery called The Avalon) as well. Could it be very troubled if not dead too?

So who's worse for Chicago, Fioretti or Reilly? This is a close race. They're running head-to-head at this point, I think, but I feel Hack Reilly might be edging out Slick Bob in scaring off any developers.

Agreed. Plenty of retail in this area. Not to mention 3 blocks from Mich. Ave. This is also right across the street from the Dana Hotel under construction as well as the two blocks from the Palomar.

Avalon/2100 is OK. It is outside of PDNA's area, and sales have begun.

Yes, mansard roof is off, new flater roof is in, with a couple of concrete spires (extensions of a couple pilasters) rising above the roof line. Small increase in the unit count as well. More density is always a positive improvement, and quite frankley the only important thing to note about this POS.

Oh well. The land those projects are sitting on is only getting more valuble the longer they sit empty. I would rather wait on them and have something better proposed in a few years, especially with Franklin Pointe, which Fioretti said was "not happening" when a few of us met up with him about 2 months ago. Hopefully with the Pussy Dimwit Nimby Assholes losing thier battle with X/O, and McPier about to ram a huge hotel up thier ass; the little bitches will sell thier units and move, taking thier selfish exclusionary attitudes with them.

Maybe, but since many of the areas of Fiorettis ward are still developing, I think he has more potential to do some serious damage. And considering crucial developments like Franklin point are apparently at risk too, there's no telling how bad this could get. But its early...

Yay hotel up asses!

Did we actually have a vague timeline for when we were going to get details on that project?
