Stumbled on this website with newer (2005-2006) satellite imagery of downtown. At least it is newer than what Google Maps has.

Incase anyone's interested.

Thanks for posting a description of the LA Central site that doesn't contain BS. I should have known something written by an SSPer ("looks like the wall around fig central is back up") who doesn't live in DT, or spend much time there, should be taken with a grain of salt.

Spreading false news ain't any better than OT posts, depressing or otherwise.

^ How do you know that Echo Park doesn't spend much time in downtown? How do you know that the wall was put back up after Tom went to the site? You don't know what time either person went by the site. You have to think about these sort of things before saying such nonsense.

this coming from a shut in who never visits downtown? I guess everything you say should be taken with a pound of salt.

I'm in downtown nearly twice a week considering my job is a few stations south of DT along the blue line. To me it appeared there was more fencing than before the AMAs but I guess my eyes decieved me (I was in downtown Sunday night.) I didn't think it was that big a mistake. At least I visit downtown instead of bossing others around for information and pictures.

Your timing made me think you were clowning around on us. Your first post over the past 2 days was a complaint about another SSPer, not anything about a first hand description of seeing the barrier around LA central reinstalled. So excuse me for thinking you must have been referring to a visit to the construction site last night, not Sunday night. If I had seen a recent change to the barrier, that would've been the first thing I'd want to talk about.

And, pola, you live way up in the Bay area, so you're out of touch with what's going on here in LA----& even on this thread. If you weren't, you'd have noticed my posts about recent visits I've made to DT only a few wks ago.

This is all OT garbage, so I apologize for being no better than those SSPers who treat this forum like a damn IM session: "whattchuup to?" "How you're doing?" "I hate that" "I like that" "I saw that movie last night" "My BF dumped me" "My GF dumped me" "what's going on?" "You have a good time last night?" "You suck!" "I luv you!"

[EDIT]
To salvage the otherwise OT junk of this post, I'll insert this pic of 4th St, looking east towards LA St, with the site of the Medallion to the left. One less gap in the hood:

I'm guessing that the link of all 4 light-rail lines would be somewhere in the Southern part of Downtown.

No sir. It'd be the northern side. Study area includes Little Tokyo, Civic Center and Bunker Hill with the line finally travelling down Flower through the Financial District to meet at the existing 7th/Metro Center station.

Link to .pdf of study area map here.

Official Metro Site regarding the Regional Connector here.

Isn't it only three lines? Blue, Expo, and Gold? I don't think the Red Line counts because as heavy rail, it cannot physically connect with the other three lines. That will always require a transfer at Union Stn.

People consider it 4 lines b/c it's 4 destinations that the connector will serve (Pasadena, Long Beach, Santa Monica, East LA). Eventhough, in reality, it's a connector of the Blue, Expo, and Gold.

Interesting. I never looked at it that way, but you're right. When complete, it would, in theory, have the ability to directly connect four destinations with each other. That could yield up to six lines, I guess.

I still consider the Eastside Gold Extension to be a separate line. It just happens to share the same color/name with the Pasadena line.

OK. I'm just hoping the Little Tokyo/Arts District station will help activate street-level foot traffic in that part of the neighborhood. Can't wait for 2009!

Speaking of that station, I don't recall seeing any talk about what, if any, development will occur on/adjacent to that station site (aside from across the street).

edkao, thanks for the info

Regarding the DT connector, I’ve seen the proposed lines, but not the proposed stations.

To anyone that attended the meetings: Did they mention the proposed stations?

It would probably be hard to describe all the possibilities for stations, but if there is a map or brochure that could be posted?

It's an extension of the Gold Line into East LA. There is no transfer at Union Station from the Pasadena Gold Line to the East LA Gold Line. How can you define a single line as 2 lines? It's a different destination, but not 2 lines.

Anyways, I went to the meeting in Little Tokyo. A good number of people were there (about 80 or so). Everybody was for it. The connector is meant to meet at the north end of the Little Tokyo station. The only new station everybody agrees upon is the Bunker Hill station (2nd/Grand or 1st/Grand). There were some mentions of an Old Bank station.

Please check out www.mta.net for more information. They have a great write-up and maps of where the downtown connector will be.

One of the nice things about the Regional Connector meetings was that the comment sheet included a map that one could draw on and submit. I went to the Library meeting and when I submitted my comment form, I had created a new route and stations for the connector (I wasn't a big fan of the routes they proposed.)

Fat chance they'll take my suggestions, but it was gratifying to participate in the process nonetheless.

Anyway, I fear I'm getting off topic.

How can you consider the Green Line with the downtown connector project? The downtown connector has nothing to do with the Green Line. The DTC purpose is to connect Expo, Blue, and Gold for a one-seat ride through downtown.
