Holy smokes that's a nice shot. I get a glimpse of this feller whenever I ride the Harlem branch of the green line into downtown. I've become a bit attached to it so thanks for the shot.

Looks like there are several sections of tower that will soon be added to the south crane.

Thanks for the pics everyone!
I think its gonna have a very dramatic effect on the river's skyline, if I can call it that. I drive down Wacker Dr everyday and it is already making its presence known. Compared to its neighbors on the north side of the river, this thing is gonna dominate!

It should go quickly. They have a lot of glass panels on site spread across several floors. They started work on the southwest corner today.

its gonna look good!

don't yell at me, but the impression I get is that glass "is just wavy", ie. there's nothing we can do about it because of the way it cools. But why is IBM's glass not really that wavy compared to all the new glass going up?

I only bring it up because the glass on this building is going to be wavy without a doubt and it appears those who don't like it just have to get used to it and concentrate their gaze on the already lovely fins, but if they could make glass look awesome with IBM, why not new buildings?

anyway, thanks for the pics Solarwind. I'm looking forward to this

This is a current photo of the test panels first shown a few weeks ago. They were covered up for a time, but they're exposed again. Probably should have left the covering on awhile longer.

There seems to be some type of backing so you're not able to see through the glass.

This is the back of the corner panel installed today. The photo is looking south.

I've circled in yellow where the curtain wall is being installed. I apologize for the photo. This by far the worst one I've ever posted, but as you can see the weather conditions were not ideal.

And a close up. You can see all the glass panels waiting on the different floors. Again the picture sucks, but oh well.

I think this is the most I've written to describe photos I've taken. I'm worn out.

It is. IBM just has mullions and spandrels that are very thick when compared to glass buildings. The effect is not as noticeable because the glass panels aren't sandwiched next to each other so closely on IBM.

When the weather clears up, I'm planning on taking more pictures. I hear that the windows on the first few floors will be installed on an expedited schedule which is good news. I'm really looking forward to seeing the curtain wall go up.
