Love the Solstice on the Park project/proposal. It seems almost sculptural and should really add some pizzazz to the neighborhood.

That height is what's listed on the floor overview that I've received, but things could still change. Here are a few highlights on the project:

-The building is being designed by A. Epstein & Sons

-There will be a winter garden on about the 35th floor

-The number of condo units has been reduced from about 180 to about 100 because of market conditions.

That's unfortunate. The original rendering was fine, regardless of a height change, this new rendering belongs in 1989; such a waste - thanks for the info. BVic.

I like the new design better. They didn't use the best rendering software, but I think it will look good once its finished. At night also.

Yes, would be great if that one had been saved. Even if they were to gut it and erect a huge tower above it a la the Hearst tower here. Wait a minute... that would be great, not ok.

Yeah, the old design was better. I admit, the new design is pretty boring. Not bad, just boring. It's an office building in Columbus Ohio.
But it's not painted concrete and it fills in the streetwall, so that counts for something. Maybe it'll look better in person? If it's granite and glass, it'll look fine from street level.

Yeah I don't really get it. A conservative design is fine for that location, especially if they're springing for granite. And it wouldn't take much at all to make the design better. The bottom's not bad. The top is just clunky.

I like the new version just the same as the older version if you ask me...This newer picture isnt at the best angle so you cant really tell how much of a setback there is like the old one...but all in all this building is not bad looking at all...hopefull Vic will get some more pics at different angels so we can really make a jmore accurate judgment of this building.

I scanned a rendering that was given to me. I tried to get an electronic rendering, but the developers said they couldn't provide those at the time, so I took matters into my own hands. I suppose that I'll have to wait til it come before plan commission again and snap some shots.

I think everyone who thought this project had potential was seduced by the power of hand drawing. Old-fashioned buildings look better when they're drawn by hand because the technique brings out subtleties that would have existed in the days of cut stone and hand craftsmanship.

Now that you're seeing the real render of a building like this in the 21st century, you can get a better understanding of what it's really going to look like. But other than the loss of some balconies (which people are actually complaining about???), and making the top ultra-tacky, not much has changed.

My prediction for this building is the same as it was before: 100% POS. And to think, we are giving up four authentic historic buildings to make a fake one.
