Really... that is surprising. I just love how the city likes to roll the dice with important downtown parcels (Block 37, etc). At least they're still in control of this one. Thanks for the clarification.

Yes, I often send letters when there is an important debate a la X/O BS.

I actually know a guy who's dad is a partner in the firm with Firroetti, I told him to ask Firroetti what his legal basis for the X/O downzoing is next time he is down at his dad's office.

Yeah - that corner (well just beyond the corner) is getting a couple new hotels, as I think Harp Group will move soon on a Courtyard by Mariott on that little parcel just north of UBS plaza....here's to hoping the design will at least be better than their typical suburban quality! Nevertheless, I'm loving the increase in non-office uses in this part of the Loop....definitely needs more energy after 6...

Yes, Yes, Yes. There needs to be a shift away from aldermanic power (code for NIMBYOTIC power) on all planning and development decision-making and toward professionals - people who actually have expertise in areas of planning, engineering and the like. This is not a show-of-hands direct democracy for a reason, and our development and planning approval process needs to recognize this...

The "little" white crane was just to get the foundation in and assemble the climbing form & climbing crane - it will be removed once the climbing crane is finished. - this is the same type as being used on 1 WTC The second set of braces can be seen in Steely's photo above.

speaking of AMLI 900, the parking structure is going up and I have never seen one built like this. It is essentially being put together like a giant erector set with precast concrete slabs being put in place by crane and fastened by workers..amazing stuff!

hey shawn, the New City project never got onto the page 1 list for one reason or another. according to emporis, the complex is proposed to have only 1 building over 12 floors, is that still accurate? does the site prep that has commenced include the 25 story tower in this phase of the construction? could you, or anyone else, please post any renderings, elevations, or other images you might have for this project?

basically, because i totally forgot about this development would you mind just bring me back up to speed with where things currently stand? thanks in advance.
