In Chicago, the maps.live.com imagery is from last summer. Unfortunately it doesn't work in Safari (and is currently flaky in other Mac browsers).

You can always use www.flashearth.com to see who has the best imagery.

They've taken the tower crane down for 600 North LSD. Also, the tower crane seems to be going up for SoNo

YoChicago is reporting that the Huron Club will begin real marketing in November. They must be really confident! It's a bad month to begin, and amid a downturn no less.

However, if the figures they are reporting are true (30% reserved already), it might be OK for them to proceed. The unit count is small; they probably only need a handful more sold to get the building moving.

IBM Moves to City Council

Here is an article from the Tribune today on the landmarking of the IBM Building, in case anyone missed it.

There also is some good discussion about the protection of Post-War buildings in Chicago.

The Google Earth imagery is outdated, but in it, you can see a small warehouse building on the parcel that Fifield is leaving alone.
^That little warehouse was demolished at least three years ago. There is fence set up about 50 feet north of the tracks, and the construction is takng place on the north side of that fence to Kinzie (the fence runs from Jefferson to Clinton).

Or that the requested revision only deals with one of the two buildings (the 41 story building)...I thought that the site plan called for a 41 story building and a 37 story building, to share a common amenities level and 700-car garage, with retail space (I am talking about site A at Kinzie station, at Clinton and Kinzie).

Also, they are putting up the screen thingy on the Clare Parking Garage. I think it looks pretty sharp. The horzontal Aluminum (not sure, but that's what it looks like) really matches the windows on the Clare quite well IMO.

According to Hyde Park Urbanist, the Windermere West project is now called Solstice on the Park.

lol, that rendering is funny...includes the Mother of All Trees in the background...like 40 stories tall And how does adding the word Solstice help you sell units? I guess it sounds cool, but when you think about it, it's a phenomenon of the seasons, and it happens in seasons (winter) that it wouldn't be very fun to be "on the park" just as much as it happens in the summer. Whatever works for them, I guess. The architecture of this project is awesome, so hopefully it gets built in this form, plus more Jeanne Gang in the city is always a good thing.

Side note: I wish someone would give Kreuck & Sexton a highrise to design. After Spertus, think it could happen?

i've been wishing for that for some time now.

edit: based on this really great rendering, i'm liking this more than aqua. though it doesn't have as strong of a concept, the design is just mind blowing.
