^^ Oh, that was always a given it would come down. Too bad; it's one of the better PoMo buildings in the city.

According to this, Antheus Capital's Jeanne Gang designed tower could begin construction in the summer of 2008.

It's good to know that this project is still alive

^ Great! This was my chief complaint about the renovation.

Also, the lighting of the Pittsfield building was supposed to occur after the city's landmark designation a year or so ago. As far as I know, this is still supposed to happen one day.

X/O developers sue Fioretti
Lawsuit would block zoning change

By HAYLEY GRAHAM

With more than $28 million spent on development and 200 units sold, the lawsuit asks the court to confirm Kargil's vested right to develop the property based on previous city approvals. Since Fioretti proposed the ordinance three months ago, the developer has been unable to receive the funding necessary to carry the project forward and its efforts to sell units has been severely hindered, according to the lawsuit. "Prior to him filing the ordinance to downzone the property we were the fastest selling project in the South Loop," Giles said. "We have stayed at that level since that ordinance was filed, and we need that cloud lifted."

Nice rendering, I'd have to think though that it would have to be at least above the 66 floor setback of the Sears in order to have any real impact.

Although the only argument with any merit (and the law on its side) clearly belongs to Giles, I think his statement above is more for perception - to add yet more strength to his case. Frankly X/O's sales are pretty darn good given the market and have probably outsold the vast majority of projects of similar size that had similar timing. I'm sure the legal limbo brought on by Little Bobbie certainly hasn't helped sales and may have harmed them, but only to a small degree. What is very obvious is that Little Bobbie realizes he has no legal leg to stand on, and that is why he wants to keep the proposed illegal downzoning alive yet not move it forward, to add a permanent feeling of uncertainty to the project and try to kill it that way. He will not succeed -both in court and on the skyline with this boneheaded move...

Interesting - I guess. All they're really doing is not building on the southern 1/4 of their parcel to allow room for more tracks/BRT.

The Google Earth imagery is outdated, but in it, you can see a small warehouse building on the parcel that Fifield is leaving alone.
