The Casino is installing their video boards today. 2 boards...one Facing the intersection, and one face eastbound traffic on Sask Dr.

Well, some of the ones I'm most familiar with from living there:

Calgary's Stampede Park is city-owned, but leased by a private company. Redevelopment plans and operations are funded mostly by event revenue (of course Stampede is huge), provincial money ($35m/y - plus $250k/y for 10y for enhancements, and $35m one-time for expansion. The city seems to just provide the lease and approvals to keep things going.
The Stampede is not a private company. It is similar to other exhibitions that are public not for profit bodies that are run by a volunteer board. All three levels of government have reps on that board.

Why has the City of Regina donated money to the Saskatchewan Party?

Makes one wonder about the bus ads, etc.

Good, that alone makes the building about 40% less scary. Any rumours of a new tenant? Or is it being demolished? The fun house is a bit of an eye sore, but its still better than a parking lot

Oh, by "private company" I just mean it's not a direct government agency/municipal board/etc, the same way a city's "Parks and Recreation" department (or whatever it may be called) would own and operate facilities outright (which I would've called "public").

There are links there to the official donors list, not only the city but U of R, SIAST and many more.

I started up a Regina Facebook group. Join up and add some Regina pics to the already impressive selection.

hmm. that's odd, there must be something else to it, I don't see how publicly run institutions such as SIAST, the UofS and the UofR can be donating to a political party, institutions such as those can't just give away money without clearing it first, and I think if they were doing something wrong, someone (ie: the Minister, which would be NDP) would have noticed something.

I think there's something we're missing

And the obvious point is that these donations are listed in an audit on Elections Saskatchewan's website, and they don't seem to mind. So however the Saskparty received this money, it must be legal

And on a side note, it's interesting how oil giant EnCana offered one of the largest donations ($18,000) to the Sask Party.

I also see that none of the labour unions donated to them

That list really shows how businesses tend to favour the Sask Party, and Unions favour the NDP

Also interesting, despite the obvious urban/rural, NDP/Sask Party split, SUMA is a Sask Party contributor.

Yup you're right. Noticed that on the way to work this afternoon. Definitely 3 boards facing all directions. That will light up that corner Especially when the glass front of the STC gets installed.

This list of contributors got me wondering...

Has Regina or any other city come out and publically supported any particular party in a provincial election? Is there anything preventing them from doing so (besides potentially alienating some voters in the next civic election)?

I know some unions will do this, but has a city, university or some other public institution ever done this?

Do you believe everything you see and read on the internet. Anyone can make a website or run a blog. Pretty weak source
