^ conceded. I've only noticed the correlation between bay windows and 'chicago style', so I didn't realize chicago style is more specific than that and doesn't even require a bay at all.
anyway, doesn't matter, but its nice to know. thanks
^^ I was referring to the rhythmic succession of bays on some early Chicago School arch., not the windows themselves. Think Monadnock.
Back on topic - the glass is still climbing on MOMO, but why not on the central section? I can't figure that out. I wonder if there is an installation reason or if the window panels haven't arrived from China.
^^Agree 100% That FUG would never win awards but if they had chosen different materials it wouldn't be so hideous. The repetitive bays on the front facade are actually kind of pleasant (and completely derivative of early Chicago School) but will always look cheap with the craptastic painted concrete.
I would love to have that big of a balcony though.
Greek museum might get new home
Project could be tied to condo tower

David Wallach, principal of W Developments LLC, is working with the Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center to build it a new home near the northeast corner of Halsted and Van Buren in Greektown. To make the project feasible, it would be tied to -- what else?-- sales in a new condominium tower.
Wallach said Wednesday he wants to build about 140 units at the site in a building of roughly 25 stories.
It actually doesn't look too bad unpainted. If that isn't feasible, maybe white or very, very light gray paint might make this turn out halfway decent.
I don't know if it's just the angle of the photo, but Ecker's image of the Reebie loft building doesn't really look too much like the rendering, no?
(Awesome pics btw, great post!)

FUCK YES!!!
That parking lot is an eyesore AND it will be 25 stories. WIN WIN.
^Agreed on the Greektown plan, good news, it would have to be pretty fugly for me to not see this as a positive development. I would love for the area along the Eisenhower, ultimately as far as Western, to be built-up and high density. I wonder if WLCO will blow a gasket over a 25 story tower...
Hey folks, it appears that Streeter II will be the first construction start to kick off in September. Caisson cranes now being assembeled, rebar is being unloaded and liners are already on site. How many starts is that now for year 2007? This is one party that keeps on going.

I just went past the site myself and workers are assembling rabar cages and there is a caisson motor on site.

From what I remember, the tower and base are rather clunky. However, I still view it as a positive development for Greektown because the museum had good street-level presence with some large columns above the entrance.
