This tower is going to turn out great I think, and while its style is derivative of Ten Museum Park and Ice buildings in Miami, that style isn't found here.. so I think it will go nice together with Aqua and whatever building ideally much taller than AON Center they hopefully decide to put between Aqua/BCBS.

If you're referring to the lot in the photo above, that will be part of the Arquitectonica-designed tower's "base" (the hotel part, with parking I'm sure below Upper E Wacker). I'm assuming the structure will go over the road and they'll keep the road there open. Can anyone confirm this?

I agree - I think this one will be a wonderful addition to the skyline.

From the renderings, it definitely uses both lots. They've spent money building that road, I can't see why they would get rid of it - I ride my bike through LSE to get to the lakefront path and it appears that just as many residents use that road (connecting to the service level of Wacker) as the connection to upper Randolph. I would be fairly upset if I lived there and they cut off the access through there - upper Randolph isn't exactly the most convenient road in Chicago...

I thought they were going to raise that segment of Field Boulevard to connect with Lower Wacker (instead of Wacker service level).

^ From the master plan, that was my thought too. But, the way it's been constructed, that is virtually impossible.

My hometown, too, this would be front page news, and I live in the second largest city in the nation! Nothing this high has been built in a dozen or more years anywhere within 250 miles of L.A. If you guys don't want it, we will gladly take it here.

Actually, I believe that would be a better site for the Spire. sure it would lose some of its dramatic water-to-tip sweep of the curve, but I'm much more of a fan of supertalls forming the climax for a massive skyscraper cluster rather than having them stand on the edge of such a cluster.

Nah, I think a 1500'er would be best here. I think the CS is better where it is.

LA may be the second largest city, but Chicago is the second largest skyline. Sorry, but its ours

Most buildings being built in Chicago now would be top of the line additions ot most cities on earth. We're very lucky.

Anyone know the timeline on this puppy? Is it in a holding pattern, or are there any key dates upcoming en route to approval?

It was just recently announced. And I don't think marketing is even to begin until the fall.

What vista are you talking about? I don't follow you.

i've noticed his posts are very hard to read. i was going to bring it up in another thread where a post of his bordered on nonsensical, but since others have noticed it, as well, well ... fair warning on this poster's writing style.
