Thanks Viper, excellent photo for this, and I especially like the massing accuracy.

Yeah, great work--for Building P (Wasatch Partners), you mention preliminary drawings...are those just massing models, or have there been renderings made?

By the way, the LDS Draper Temple has topped out at 166 feet -- making it about 40 feet shorter than the current Jordan River Temple, and about 20 feet shorter than the Oquirrh Mountain (Daybreak) Temple. If you know where to look, you can see it from I-15.

Great job Viperlord! I'm always impressed with your insider info and renderings and models. There certainly is alot of residential going in. I hope the demand for downtown housing stays high in order for these projects to be successful and bring about even more. It was only about 5 years ago when living downtown was sort of a joke really. I hope this isn't just a temporary boom that fades out and downtown regresses back to the way it was. I don't think that will happen but I'm a little apprehensive about it. I think with all these projects downtown will become a real downtown and thus more and more people will want to live there, at least that's my hope.

Thanks guys,

The buildings for (wasatch partners). We know that they want to do a mixed use development on the site. I read an article in the business journal that had the developer saying " the site is large enough for two major towers". Also I am going off of what the deseret news said in a recent article about preliminary plans on the site for a new tallest in downtown SLC. I do not think there have been any renderings released yet. Wasatch is currently doing a big mixed use project up in Bellevue right now. 10 acres 1.2 billion dollars. they have Big D construction as a partner. I dont see wasatch developing the state street site until they finish phase one of the bellevue block. It's just too many projects to keep track of for one company. But i could be wrong. I know that they were also not wanting to develop the site due to their partnership with Hamilton partners, but now that the partnership is done. We may see the competing tower rise up.

Just filling ya in on my findings.

I just wanted to clarify the location on the proposed Wasatch project. I am concluding from the images that it is the block north of the City County building, the same block with Metro condos on it. Is my conclusion correct?

Yes, just fronting State Street. It's currently a parking lot.

Hey Viper, that's an awesome shot of downtown. where can I download a naked version of it? without the white boxes and numbering?

Here. It's a bit smaller, but only because I think Viper resized it.

Naked enough for you?

Utah '07 business growth is triple that of rest of the nation

http://www.deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,695196951,00.html

.... "I expect this growth to continue well into 2007 with (the) unemployment rate dipping another 0.3 percent to 2.3 percent by October,"....

......New hiring was a factor in July, with Utah accounting for 33 percent of regional employment, the Creighton study states. The state is expected to experience 63 percent of regional job growth in the third quarter, compared to 31 percent in Colorado and just 6 percent in Wyoming.

Hansen Planetarium in Salt Lake City sold to O.C. Tanner

http://www.deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,695197255,00.html

This has to be one of the most beautiful buildings in the Western U.S. I'm glad to see it will be in the hands of O.C. Tanner.

I also was glad to see that building will be utilized. It should also help draw some pedestrian traffic across state from CCC when its done.

I am happy that OC Tanner ended up with the building. The draw of the company and building will help to create a lot of east west traffic across state street.

It is my favorite old building in downtown. I am happy that it has a new use.

They need to hurry and build a US-189/US-40 bypass around Heber so Old Town doesn't become a target for Wal-Marts and the like (sort of how Center Street in Provo is protected thanks to development in East Bay).
