NO! We are not talking about building a 85 or 60 floor structure. A 40 floor building is not that tall. We already have a 27 floor building (Hallmark Place), a taller building should be built. Talking about it is a start.

Given the cost of construction, it's just unlikely.

agreed, i think we should work on our skyline, but wouldnt it be nicer to have more empty lots taken up then to build one massive building? although a skyline does beautify a city from a distance, restuarants, shops, ect. are why people come to downtown cores. and wouldnt a massive office tower not fit in with most of our 10-20 office towers? we need more 20-30 storey office towers.

Heck, I'd be happy with some 4 storey buildings downtown to replace the sea of asphalt parking lots that haunts downtown. Retail on first, offices of second & a few stories of condos on top. Land is still fairly inexpensive here, thus it really doesn't pay to go tall ... yet.

Any construction downtown that looks nice would be positive. I just want our downtown to have more density. Some tall buildings, condos would put more people downtown. I'd really like to see something happen along 3rd ave.

Wimpy is an understatement.

I think that site will be MAX 6 floors, probably 5 floors. That wimpy crane is no more than 80 feet high - But any progress is good progress I guess.

A 25 story office building with maybe a slightly shorter downtown would certainly do a lot to give a beefier balance skyline for saskatoon. Along 3rd would be great. A 25 story office building for Cameco could turn out to be roughly 380 ft. when you add in mechanical and possible top feature.

The more people living along 3rd ave the better. This would make our downtown alive at night. Would love a few condo developments along 3rd ave. I'm not talking about senior assisted living. Seniors never go outside. We need young professionals down there.

Would you be willing to live downtown? The market has want the market currently supports. If there was a demand for condo's on 3rd, someone would step foward and build them. Until such time it is only a dream.

Personally I would love to see some real towers built, say 60+ stories to rival the rest of Canada. But guess what it isn't going to happen any time soon.

third avenue is ugly, i sat save the historic buildings, tear down wost of the rest and build office towers, nice office towers, second avenue is the street that should have activity at night, not third

2 client
3 site

If these are established then maybe your tower could be a possibility. Till then it is a dream.

Ok you got me on the developer, but someone should take a chance on Saskatoon. As for the site, 22nd and 3rd ave is a perfect location, we just need a developer with some vision. The client, could be a mix use development with Cameco as the anchor! A 30/40 floor development may not be built, but should be. Maybe we should call on Donald Trump,........................................................................................................................................................................just kidding. We should be so lucky as to have him look at Saskatoon.

Out tallest building is La Renaissance Apartments at 79.2 m, 24 floors. The tallest office building is the Saskatoon Square at 72.0 m, 17 floors.

Who would move into these new office towers? Residential property is taking off so I can see some condo towers near the river, but I don't think we're running out of commercial property. And, if we actually are, I don't think we have any 'big' clients out there that would justify a tower once Cameco gets theirs.

You go tall, you get a pretty postcard but are in danger of creating the horrendous unoccupied canyons of downtown Calgary.

Big projects currently out for tender ... Intervac at the U of S & the Shaw Centre (the civic centre on the west side). We might then get a good opinion of how construction costs are in the city.
