^^^The Saskatchewan pavillion at Expo '86 had one of the most popular restaurants on the entire site. It was simply known as the restaurant in the Saskatchwan pavillion. It featured home cooking, and the main menu was a roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings. It was supposed to represent a typical "fall supper" in Saskatchwan after the harvests were finished. It was so popular that even after Expo '86 was over, the restaurant concept was opened in Park Royal Mall in West Vancouver and it was called The Restaurant from the Saskatchwan Pavillion. It lasted quite a few years. The food was excellent.

I keep wondering why no one has taken the opportunity to build anything at the corner of 22nd st and 3rd ave. This is a prime location for a mix use retail, office, and condo development. I know the construction costs would be high, but think it would still be a profitable project. The time to do something is now. The city is growing, and people are moving to Saskatoon.
I don't see why a 40 floor tower can't go up at that location. I know most people reading this will think I'm nuts, but think about it. We are a growing city with a population close to 240,000. We don't have any buildings in this city that we can call a skyscraper. I don't see why Cameco wouldn't have a 40 floor tower build there. They could use 10-15 floors and the rest could be for other uses like condo and office space for lease.

Cameco are you listening?

By the time Saskatchewan gets a 40 foot office tower, Estevan could be the capital city.

Theres an empty lot that i believe was on 22nd and ave d that is fenced off and has a construction sign posted on it. anyone know about that property?

Not with that negative attitude! We already have a 27 floor building, why not a 40 floor?

that is true, but edmonton has a metro population of over a million, with only one building over 40 stories according to this site, and winnipeg has a population of almost 700 thousand, and it doesnt have a 40 story building. i think a 40 story building is posible but highly unlikely, i would aim for 30 stories in the next few years.

If you want a 30 floor building, you need to shoot for a 40-50 floor building. Aim high, what is there to lose?

Edmonton has a height restriction on their downtown buildings because the city centre airport is close. I am sure if that was not the case, Edmonton would have its share of 40+ building....

I think Saskatoons biggest obstacle to 40 floor buildings is the abundance of vacant/under used lots in the downtown. For too many years Saskatoon has had a habit of pulling down structures and making gravel/paved parking out of them.

It's about time the local government puts a stop to demolition just for the tax savings of a vacant lot.

back in the early 80's when the population was half of what it is now there were plans for an 85 story tower oin the Eaton's Centre development, but NAV Canada killed the idea. You never know, if they start tar sands operations in Norther Saskatchewan a 40 story tower might not be out of the realm. who says it has to be all office. could 15 stories office space, 15 stories residentail and 10 stories hotel.

What is going up at the corner of Taylor and Kingsmere Blvd over in Lakeview? I didn't have my camera on me so I'll attempt to describe it. The pit seemed deep enough for underground parking, crews were also removing earth adjacent to the pit although not to the same depth. With that particular crane I wouldn't expect to see 20+ stories but 10-15 maybe???

Thank you!! Nice to have a positive view on things. One 40+ building is very possible. I'm not saying that we are due for a building explosion, but the city of our size is due for one major project. When was the last time anything was built downtown?

I went and had a look. Looks like a condo development, but I would guess it to be 8 floors max. That crane is kind of wimpy.

Something like this could be built quite easily. But would it not be better to have two 20 floor stuctures instead? Maybe fill in the gaps in the skyline we already have.

Indeed. I'd rather see a plethora of smaller developments, filling in vacant downtown lots than one 40 floor structure. The smaller projects would go a longer way to developing downtown.
