Wow - with AC adding extra flights to Begas (US Airways route to Vegas in July and August) the fares are GREAT. I just got back on US Airways and paid 400 plus - and AC is flying for $100 each way July 15th and rtn 18th (200.00). Now thats a steal! Vegas anyone?????????

Has WestJet ever looked at flights into Houston and Dallas/Fort-Worth? That would be something that could work and that I would be interested in.

Just got back a month ago. I flew US Airways because of a flight voucher, but it's good to hear AC is picking up the pace to sin city.

I believe Westjet is currently looking to add LAX from YEG,according to a friend who is a pilot for them.It will give AC a little competition on the route.Westjet doesnt serve DFW at all from anywhere in Canada.It could be a good new destination for them though.Southwest airlines is looking to move into canada in the near future so that could become a possible route.

Does anyone know what has happened to Air Transat's (Canadian Affair) YEG-LGW flights? The flights do not exist on the websites of Air Transat, Canadian Affair, or Edmonton Airports (OAG). Has Air Canada flexed its muscle and bumped Air Transat?

I see that Zoom is still going strong but their schedules seem to change constantly. They have added a second weekly YEG-LGW flight for the month of September and October. A second return flight, though, does not exist.

^yep the route will start in March 2008 and operate Philiadelphia-Edmonton-Shanghi using a A330 initally.So far just for fuel,but with open skies,maybe just maybe....

I am assuming stopping at YEG to refuel instead of Fairbanks makes the trip shorter?

would YEG be a better refueling stop for most Asia flights then?

If US Airways did start using YEG as a fuel stop, this could be an advantage - you might not have to worry about US transit visas.

While I'm aware that transit visas are required of passengers and crew having to stop even for a fuel stop on US soil between two countries, such as YVR-HNL-SYD (Thankfully, this routing to Sydney won't be around much longer), is it also the case for, say a flight originating or ending in the United States having to make a fuel stop in Anchorage or Honolulu?

This route is still awaiting approval from the U.S DOT,but if it gets approved it will be the routing.I see in ACAR that US has applied for the route.A A350 will take over the route once they arrive for the airline.YEG used to be used by NW back in the day for fuel stops with 747's to/from Asia.

Can this be a precursor to the open skies policy of allowing a passenger stop as well as fuel stop at YEG?

Maybe someone is doing some forward planning?
