^Not a surprise, as Max Ward by now might be getting too old to fly as a pilot. He's in his mid-eighties by now, I believe. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if he still likes going up to Yellowknife now and then. I certainly don't blame him, as the land around Yellowknife is beautiful and the fishing up there is not half bad.

About that article EdmTrekker posted...Sault Ste. Marie trying to attract flights to Europe? WTF?

EIA should commission a bronze statue of Max Ward NOW when he is alive - to pay tribute to him as a living legend. They should also be asking him to help out with talking with Lufthansa and others about opportunities to grow business from YEG. He oozes credibility and is respected worldwide.

The only ''new'' rumor at the moment is of a new charter carrier for the winter,I believe the name is Emerald express.The airline would lease a 757 and plans to operate to Cancun,Punta cana,Puerto Plata,and Samana from YEG and YYC.Still in the rumor phase though...

Me thinks with all the bad PR about CUN - that traffic may come to a drizzle. It is looking worse than ACA. I for one love my PVR - and look forward to my next flgiht down...by commercial carrier through the US. Someone has to keep those US routes viable - and I just love the ff pts.

I see an Emeral Express on Google - but its an IRISH frieght company. Tuffy - is this a new local (Edmonton) startup?? Any other details?? One 757 does not comfort me if there are no back up planes etc. Also I have heard that AC may increase its flights from YEG this fall/winter adding flights to other destinations besdies CUN and Mobey.

So the numbers are good, why haven't any of the 4 targetted American destinations (NY, Miami/Atlanta, Houston, what was the 4th one?) or Frankfurt been attained?

I will be back in CUN in april,I have been to the area 8 times without a problem...Also did the Canadian pathologist not say he found evidence it was a fall and that there was excess booze and even cocaine in this guys system?People are witch hunting right now and CUN is easy to blame.

Also a good show at YEG right now as some military stuff has rolled through and will stay into the weekend.French KC-135,USAF KC-135,USAF C-130's,Belgian C-130's and more to show on Friday.

I have been to CUN a few times as well and have no problems. You have to be careful like any other travel location. And in the case of Mexico the "all inclusive" aspect to some of the resorts creates problems with people overdoing it.

was in cancun in 2003...no problems at all, never felt unsafe and we even went into the city for 2 days...
